After all, that π is the ratio of a circle's circumference to its diameter is just a theory after all, and directly contradicted by the Bible. Should we not teach C = 3d as an alternate to the theory that C = πd?

I love it! Bonzo the tap dancing chimp's answer is dead on.

Oh, and for any of you crazy creationists who try to undermine evolution becuase it's "only a theory"...
-gravity is also "only a theory" and I don't beleive it's mentioned in the bible, does that mean it doesn't exist either?
- a theory, in scientific terms, means a hypothosis that has been tested under every possible circumstances and has not been disproven, but ultimately cannot be proven either. hence, none of us were around to watch the process of evolution so therefore it cannot be proven. nonetheless, all intelligent scientists are in consensus about evolution and all signs point to it's exitence.
-Can you prove that god exists, or isn't he just a theory as well, albeit not a very scientific one?
-If go'd all powerful, can't he create us in whatever way he see's fit, including evolution?
-The oldest christian religion acknowleges evolution as fact, its just the red neck newbies who wanna rely on a 2000+ year old book instead of living in the present and listening to reason.

Like always, you're far too kind again. An alternate? Hell no! Gods word is, of course, the only truth.

I'm so tired of these people who invent a theory. Those people who call themselves scientists.

The earth is flat and round, and created 6,000 years ago. C=3d in that whole creation. Why even bother our childrens minds with all these human so called scientific theories? We really think we're smarter than God's word? Or Mithras word?

Scientists just looked at a round pie, and invented a scientific word based on that. Tss, alternate theory? No way!

A ratio is not a theory or a theroem. Its a provable relationship you can test forever and get the same answers. We can USE math to support theories but math itself is just a system of thought. There are no "alternative" maths.

The bible, conversely, is completely here-say.
We cant even ask the authors what they meant.

since when is pi a controversial theory? it is a proven theorem. c=3d is incorrect. take any circle, measure the circumference with a string, measure the diameter and divide the circumference by the diameter. the result is always pi not 3.

No medical theory might want to be considered acceptable an unalterable; all of them might want to be falsifiable to three volume (you would possibly want to be in a position to settle for the possibility that info might want to exist that may necessitate a revision). Creationism isn't falsifiable, because it proposes itself as being honestly maximum suitable right down to the very very last word, without possibility that info might want to exist hostile to it. hence, creationism isn't technology, and "introduction technology" is a pseudoscience made in an attempt to attempt to make creationism look extra grounded in reality. The day we replace evolutionary theory with creationist thoughts in technology type is the day we flush the medical approach down the bathroom. i might want to have a tendency to imagine that human beings must have non secular freedom (inclusive of not having to stick with any faith), and that i have a really agency idea contained in the separation of church and state. it really is major to maintain; if we've "hardcore fundies" get into place of work as a fashion to impose their faith at something human beings, this u . s . a . will turn from a democracy right into a theocracy very instantly. If that ever occurs, i might want to leave the country.

It depends on the theory. Some theories seem to be more privilidged. The selection of the thories tells more about the teacher than it tells about the theory itself.

That's a funny one! If we think like that, pretty soon Math will be like psychology; theories will come and go, and no real work will get done.

However, I'm still a Christian.

Separation of Church and State. Separation of fiction from fact. This country is going down the toilet. I hope you are kidding, but there are so many out there who would jump on your idea; like Bush.

You should probably include the quote that talks about the ten-by-thirty circle of bricks.
