The most important thing to remember is that hair texture is irrespective of ethnic group. That means that your tight curls are similar in shape and behavior to people of other ethnic backgrounds and will require the same care.

First, decide if you really want to embrace your curls. If so, then the best lines for curly hair are: Miss Jessies, Ojon and Ouidad. Pantene's relaxed and natural line also makes a deep conditioner that would work well for your hair, lock in moisture and tame the frizz! With any hair care product, if you are wearing it curly then the key is after shampooing and conditioning, to work the styling product though the hair when it is SOAKING wet. Then lightly dry the hair, but do NOT scrunch it with a towel. Let air dry or use a diffuser attachment which will also cut down on the frizz. Finish off with a smoothing serum to add shine and fight frizz. Elin Lavar, Loreal Vive and Kiehls make good ones.

Now, if you are determined to straighten you hair, it's very important that you go to a professional who does relaxers on a regular basis. One of the best systems is Mizani and also the PHYO phytospecific relaxing system. This will keep your hair healthy and straight for at least 2-3 months. When washing and drying you can then blow dry to keep very straight, and add a flat iron if you like, but watch how much heat you use while your hair is straightenend. You will need to continue to use a moisturizing shampoo and conditioning system in order to keep the hair healthy and prevent breakage. Ojon again,Elin Lavar again, Mizani, Pantene Relaxed and Natural and L'Oreal Vive for women of color are all great and many are very reasonably priced.

I have beautiful thick curly hair. And yes many white people haev curly frizzy hair like fros as well. I use friease conditioner and leave it in. The flat iron that use is not expensive and works well. I use a vidal sassoon with 170 watts of power. Ull also need to blow dry with a blow dryer that has a comb already attached to it. this helps straighten it a lot. Less frizz or tangling. Lots of conditioning needed. Also please do not wash ur hair every single day, it wil dry out ur hair and deprive all the natural oils needed to nourish it.

I had a girlfriend from Jr. hi that has hair just like yours -- and she used to lament about it. I suggest that you go to a hair salon where they know how to treat your texture of hair --I know this, because my hair can get frizzy and curly if it's not cut right. I think that if you can grow it longer (I know it's tough getting past the short stage:) ) the weight of your hair will pull the curl down. Also, if you follow some of the other girl's advice, like moisturizing more frequently, leave in conditioner (worked wonders on my hair) and get a ceramic straightener (I'd have the girls at the salon experiment with you first before you invest) this may help you through the short-growing -out-stage. Once your hair is long, your curls will be pulled out into larger more beautiful waves. Good luck!

There are hair straiteners on the market- but they tend to be kinda rough on hair! Have u tried a new stay in conditioner that u do not rinse out? I use that because my hair is majorly long and it tends to get a little frizzy and the stay in conditioner makes it sooooo manageable! There is also a machine- like a curling iron that helps to straighten hair! I say ENJOY your curly hair! Women try each and every day with curling irons and curlers to achieve hair like u have! Sounds like you just need an intense conditioner treatment. Pantene has a deep conditioning product that is awesome! Good luck to u

Embrace your curls. I also have curly hair and I don't have time to do the ironing... when I go to the salon and they do it for me, as I live in a humid climate, by the afternoon is curly again. The best thing to do is to look for haircuts that tame the curls and make them fit to your face shape. Also highlights can help. And using a good anti-frizz serum every day will help you to get ready fast, and have curls looking beautiful almost the whole day.

i have the same hair. there are a couple of things. first, you can straighten it but it wont look right. the texture, thickness, everything about it was made to be worn either short and close to the head, or you can have extension's put on, or buy something called frizz-eze. that keeps it soft, and not so dry. I do both. If the extensions are done right, they will give you a whole new look, and you can have long looking hair, one week and short the next. keep your mind open to hair pieces. they work well if done right.

Im mixed and my hair is curly too. I say keep it moisterized and healthy. I use Paul Mitchell leave in conditioner and I don't wash it everyday cuz it dries out. Just rinse and condition when you shower. Add some color to make it stand out and accessorize!! Might as well have some fun with it!! Good luck!

I know girls that would do anything for curly hair; But as far as the frizzing goes I think it would be best to see a qualified Beautician BEFORE doing anything drastic
