Excel files are .xls not .doc

Try to open the file on another computer. Check the file size, right click and choose properties and see how big it is. It has to be at least 1kb if it shows 0kb then its a dead file. If you can open it on another computer then reinstall excel and try again

If that is the only Excel file you can not open, that something has happened that has corrupted that file. Recreate it.

Try reinstalling excel

the file might be corrupted i.e. if you transfered it from another storage medium and did not successfully completed the transfer.
