stop going to church altogether instead of just trying a different church to go to? When a church does something you don't agree with or you are not comfortable with what they do - don't just stop going to church or stop being a Christian - find another church to go to. Sometimes even another denomination.
I went from Baptist to Church of God which is Pentecostal - ( Like the Assembly of God) You really should just change churches, not just give up on all. And if you say that all churches are like that - then I will call you a liar because I have been to many and they are not all the same. I have been in church for 33 years. So - Just don't give up - it is important to be in church with other believers and to learn and worship together. It is very important.

Wow mom of 3, I actually feel closer to God now out of church than I did when I went to church. For me, beleiving in God has nothing to do with religion. Religion seems too oppressive, and it seems it has been created solely for the purpose of divsion among people and in some cases, scaring people into submission. This to me, is not of God. Therefore, I meditate and pray everyday. Why do I need a bunch of other people to do this?

Is this a question or a suggestion?

I have been to many churches of many denominations. None have fit me and I have moved on in my religious path. That is why I stopped going to church. Not everyone just goes to one and then stops.

The world is my church. I do not need nor want some organized group in some building that they believe god lives in telling me what is right and wrong and that if I make a mistake I'm going to hell. I do not believe in heaven or hell nor do I believe in this supposedly fantastic PERSON everyone seems to call god.

You can call me a liar if you whould like, but YOUR (big emphasis on YOUR) bible has a commandment do not bear false witness agianst thy neighbor.

trying a different church wont solve anything, they all preach the same thing and they all give false promises, I know from many years of experience and LISTENING to other people's experiences too. shame christians cant follow thier own commandments and stop lecturing others on how to live thier lives. fix yourself first before telling others how they should live, then maybe just maybe people will listen to your rants.

You assume that just because someone gives up on going into a building, that man calls church, that someone has given up on God, I beg to differ, I still believe in God, and live for God, but I do not go into a building, that man has called what they choose for it to be called, we carry God in our hearts, but in some of the church buildings they choose to sell things like CDS, Food, tapes, I just don`t go for that, now I believe a preacher deserves to be paid for the fact that he has dedicated his life just to preaching Gods word, and the Bible says he is worthy of his pay, but CDS, FOOD, TAPES,? no I believe if you want to see people saved then these things should be freely gave, man sells food in church, and even the people thats not saved or going to that church buy it, chistian music is a form of praise, why are they selling what they praise to God, these things should be freely given, they were freely saved, CHRIST gave his life freely.

Because even Christians base their faith on "feelings"...

We are run by our emotions, rather than practicing the fruits of the spirit. If we could just realize that those people who are unlovable were put in our paths to build our character...

I know it is possible to become discouraged, especially when it seems that even the religious leaders lie to you about things in the Bible. Jesus said that there would be those who claimed to perform many things in his name but that they would actually be unknown to him. I agree with you. Jehovah's Witnesses are the only ones I have found who actually teach the truth of the Bible and I am so happy to have found them. (Actually, they found me!)

Perhaps some people wise up to the fact that to be close to God, one does not need an institution; one needs only faith.
