Not necessarily inspiration per se, it is all part of the life of somebody in our religion.

"The righteous man cares for the needs of his animal, but the wicked have no such concern. "

Those who follow Christ should show compassion for other creatures, as well as people.

God didn't do crap for our pets. I take care of them because I love them!
