i just began growing some baby tomatoes, but the seeds were mixed up with some different type of tomatoes i had no idea of. well months passed and they began to grow and the difference between the two types was showing up. the first one was the regular baby cherry tomatoes and the others was instead tiny, but not round. they looked like tiny one inch pears. and i noticed they only turn yellow, not red. i tried them and they are pretty good, but i keep on asking friends and neighbors what type of tomatoe is this? and no one seems to know.

where is this type of tomatoe from? i live here in italy i can tell it definetly does come from here. are they expensive? any cool facts about them if you know?

thanks!

They are very common here in the US. They are ussually sold along with cherry tomatoes, which is probably how you ended up with them. They are very tasty and are yellow once they ripen. They can be sweeter than regular tomatoes, but it all depends on the amount of sun it receives. They are also less acidic.

Enjoy your yellow tomatoes. They sound like a nice surprise!

Yellow Pear (70-80 days) Indeterminate.
This heirloom has been a favorite cherry variety for over 150 years. Low in acid, high in flavor, the bright yellow fruits are sweet and juicy - the perfect snack.
Fruits appear all season long. The vines are extremely vigorous and can grow up to 8ft. long.

Sounds like a yellow grape tomato. Very sweet? They are great in salads, particularly mixed with the red ones.

Yello, 1 inch pear shapes, huh? They are yellow pear tomatos! They are also available as red pear tomatos. We often grew them in our home garden when we were kids, and indeed they ARE sweet!

The variety is at least 50 years old, but I'd not seen any mention of them in a LONG time. They're excellent as "eatin' 'maters" or in salads. I don't remember Mom cooking with them, though. We used the bigger ones for that.

yeah tomatoes come in many sizes and flavors. we grow red yellow and purple. the purple are heirloom tomatoes but they all have specific names like golden girls and navahoe and well many different ones. i like the yellow as they have less acid in them but the purple ones are very sweet and not like a tomato at all they look like them and have the same texture but very different.

I've heard them called grape tomatoes, and teardrops is also acceptible. I slice the yellow ones in half lengthwise, and use them in salads. They're lovely, if they got enough water,...
