Remember when all TV was free and quality thousand percent better. You can thank both Dem and Rep for letting few own all. The only solution maybe thanks but no thanks. Don't think it will ever be totally free again, but cost will become more realistic. Said goodbye to cable years ago. Have AD. DD that's Ad definitely disgusted. There's very little worth enduring some of that mind less drool you need to get through to watch anything. Might TV save itself by letting congress re- establish the two minute rule for commercials

In the UK. You pay for a 'TV Licence' - and all this money goes to the BBC. They then have to tun their corporation on that money. And as you know the quality of the programming is excellent. They also have ZERO ads. Everything is completely ad free programming (TV and Radio).
But the real point I am trying to make is that they also are the main backer for something called 'Free View' - in the UK you can get digital TV over a regular TV aerial on your house. You buy a cheap box as a one off payment and you get your TV for free. Which includes about 30 channels. Incl. All the BBC channels. You can pay for your digital Satellite TV if you lilke, BUT you are not forced to. You can have qaulity programming for free. I'd love a similar 'corperation' to be set-up in N America, maybe then I would reconnect my cable, which I recently stopped because I can't watch those f**king adverts any more!

Then it would seem that you are tired of watching cable TV. You pay for newspapers which are just the same, magazines, that are the same way too....but they only take small chunks of money at a time....on the back of your car is probably a dealer's logo...Wow...did you ever think you were advertizing for free for the dealer? How about the little crocodile stitched onto a shirt pocket or that leather flap on your back pocket? You are not as astute in advertising as the big boys.

you have free broadcast tv, so use that. Oh you want more? THEN PAY FOR IT. Don't want to pay for it? wait a few years for very fast broadband to become ubiquitous and then get all your content from the internet, on-demand and eventually the same quality. oh wait, internet isn't free, you actually have to pay something. So should we get internet for free too? Companies have tried to do that, but it didn't work out so well. Get over it, just pay for cable or don't use it. Just stop whining.
fyi, there isn't less quality programming, there is just more programming period. not all of it is good, big surprise.
i personally think there is a LOT MORE quality tv to watch now than ever before.

It wouldn't take long - but you'd probably end up with about 45 minutes of ads for every hour of TV! On the whole, I'll stick with my cable ;-)

It would never happen. People are too dependent on TV as a form of entertainment.
