Credit cards are the best bet in this period of time. Get several with say 9 months intrest free, then pay of the money to the credit card companies over the 9 months. Try to get as much of as possible by the end of the free period and then transfer whats left to one card (a new one with a new 9 months 0% on it). Other than that down size your wedding. Choose out of fashion months for the reception, and get family to make the cake ect. However as I am also Irish I understand the pressure to have a huge wedding with all your family. So hope the credit cards work out. You could also try a small loan from a bank or credit union, but if used wisely the credit cards are effectivly an intrest free loan.

all i can say is good look i live in waterford and my wedding cost 4 times more that 5000 euro good luck that 5000 will just pay for your meal and not including you drink .

clean out your closet and sell everything on eBay! Take the girls out to a pub with you. wear a t-shirt with life savers all over it and allow to guys to remove one with their teeth for money. kinda dirty, but not like the other suggestions. Can you get a loan?

Try a garage sales somehow it can help, sell all your unneccessary things or items in your house that you thing it could not be useful, somehow you get married sooner. things will change.
