Thanks for all the answers so far...I truly appreciate everyone's honesty. One thing that I want to add is instead of focusing on HOW to become a Christian answer what life is like/would be like as a Christian. So the answer would fall in two categories:
(A) What your life looks like if you follow Christ
(B) What you think Christian life is like, for those of you that do not follow Christ

Thanks again for all your answers!

To be Christian is to willingly take on the name of Christ and to associate yourself with the glorified Jesus Christ or the Lord God. We are not to be ashamed of God's name.

It means to be Christ like. Not to worship him just on Sunday's but everyday. Talk to him, listen to him, read his word. Understand. Witness to people, help others, pray for others. Don't just act this way at church and go home and do what you want. we all sin - but as Christians we know not to sin and we know when we do sin and we ask forgiveness. Act everyday, every minute like God is right next to you. He is anyway - but make yourself aware of it.
Change your lifestyle. I have been a Christian for my whole life, but recently took the next step to be a better christian and changed my life style - I quit smoking, got rid of movies that wouldn't be good for my kids and music. when you do these things you become closer to God and when you are closer to God then you are moving to the place you are suppose to be. Doing what you are meant to do. Don't swear, yell and act a fool - people should tell a difference in you and know that you are a Christian. It doesn't mean you have to carry a Bible around with you, and talk only about God. But it means that you should have a different look about you that makes people ask why you have that look and why you have peace showing through you. Things like that.

The most important thing is to believe in God and that Jesus died for your sins and to be saved.

Two types of christian,,

1. The kind described by Jesus in the bible. kind, benevolent, loving, generous.

2. The real kind. Hateful, guilt ridden, hypocrites, with huge insecurity complexes, struggling in vain to become "perfect" all the while trying desperately for some unknown reason to convert the world to their misery.

Christianity is one of those things that looks great on paper,, but in real life,, just don't come off the same.

I am a christian. It is having sort of a parent child relationship in a way. So be sure if you are separated from him or go away from him he will seek after you. It is having a friend at your side at all times. It is having a King to worship yet the king is your best friend. It is knowing someone loves you at all times. That when you are left alone in the dark and you feel like no one is there. He is standing there watching you trick yourself into believing you really are alone. It is a friend that grieves when someone else has been given attention over him and grieves every second you are away from him because he cannot bare being away from you caus of his love for you.

In short he is what every human soul longs for.
Coincidence.
I think not.

I will not offer what I "think" is the truth.
First of all, There is no way for you to know that what I say to you is truth, unless you know what the truth is. And there is no way for you to know what the truth is. unless there is a truth that you already know is true!

Truth must be a fixed point of reference. It must be objective. It must be truth whether or not we agree with it or not. It must be truth whether or not we have heard of it.

Many think they are Christians because they claim to believe in Jesus. But, believing in Jesus often means nothing, or anything, particularly here in America where pluralism and relativism are rampant. Intolerance is the only thing not tolerated by the postmodernist who says, "My truth is different than your truth, so don't judge me with your outdated morals." Or "you have your beliefs, and I have mine, and I am o.k. with that" Well, God is NOT o.k. with that!! Such commentary by the non-thinking and spiritually dead is all too common. But it doesn't change the true meaning of what it means to be a follower of Christ. So, what does it mean to be a Christian?
of all, to be a Christian, you must first know who Christ is. Biblically, He is God in flesh, second person of the Trinity (John 1:1,14; Col. 2:9). He is the great "I AM" (Exodus 3:14; John 8:58). He is the savior who was born of a virgin (Isaiah 7:14), who died, was buried, and rose from the dead (1 Cor. 15:1-4), physically (John 2:19-21). He alone is the way, the truth, and the life (John 14:6). Only by the name of Jesus may a person be saved (Acts 4:12) and all who do not trust in Him alone for the forgiveness of their sins will be judged (Matt. 25:41) accordingly. Jesus is both God and man (Col. 2:9; 1 Tim. 2:5; Phil. 2:5-8). He is our eternal intercessor (Heb. 7:25) who mediates our salvation to the Father (1 Tim. 2:5). To Him be the glory.

He is not merely some man who was wise (Secularism). He was not the product of sexual relations between a god and goddess from another world (Mormonism). He is not a man in tune with the divine consciousness (Christian Science). He is not the first created thing in the universe (Jehovah's Witnesses). He is not the harmonious, really-neat-teacher (New Age). He is the creator of all things (Col. 1:16-17; Isaiah 44:24). He is Lord!

Once you know who Jesus is, you must trust Him to forgive you of your sins. Ask Him to forgive you. He will. Then, once you are saved, you are a Christian. But, you are not a trophy to be placed on a shelf and left alone. You are more like a pair of sneakers to be used.

That is what it means to be a Christian. It means you have found the true Savior, not a false one of the cults. It means you have been saved by God's grace, through faith (Eph. 2:8) and are now seeking to please Him in your life by following His commands (1 John 2:4). Such obedience does not save you nor contribute to your salvation. This obedience is motivated by love and thankfulness and is a response of being saved.

So, being a Christian means knowing the true Christ and following Him in truth.

However, in America, apostasy has reared its ugly head the church. There are those who do not hold Christ in the highest of regard, as God in flesh, and because they fail to do that, they fail to understand the gospel, they fail to become saved, and they fail to understand what it means to be a Christian.

There is nothing wrong with ministering to the lost, but it is all for nothing if a false Christ and false hope of what it means to be a Christian is presented. So, I ask you, are you a Christian? Do you follow the true and living God? God the Son?

Do you trust in Him alone for the forgiveness of your sins? Examine yourselves as the scripture says and lean in Christ alone for the salvation that is freely offered (Rom. 6:23).

I am not a Chritian, although someone was trying to take me there. Based on my understanding, I believe being a Christian means to go to the Church preaching as much as you can or you want. Lots of Christian told me it is different between someone who believe in God and Chrisitian. And going to the Church and having social life so much are the mainly thing to do to be a Chrisitian...

I wish I knew.

I thought it was accept God and Jesus into your life. And do not murder.

well I'm ok with those two concepts.....but I really have alot of issues with the rest of it. Espicially the ones that feel they have a right to judge you and preach their own personal beliefs onto others.

My soul is just fine but to others.......well, I really don't give a damn.

To follow the teachings of Jesus "Christ." To believe he was the Messiah spoken of in the Old Testament. And to believe he died for our sins, and is the son of God.

Being a Christian means being profoundly gullible and non-discerning, to the point where one will believe such idiocies as:

*  a universe in which all that exists are the earth and heaven
*  solid 'firmament' structure (the sky) separating the earth from heaven (terrarium earth)
*  talking snakes (with legs) and donkeys
*  shepherd staff turning into an asp
*  demons chased out of people and into pigs
*  friendly spirits
*  evil spirits
*  walking on water
*  multiplying loaves and fishes
*  food falling from the sky
*  conception by a ghost
*  people raising from the dead
*  the sun stopping in its tracks
*  parting seas
*  people being bodily sucked up into heaven (which, by the way, lies on the 'other side' of the sky)
*  world-wide flood that drowned the earth to a depth of 40 feet above the tallest mountain
*  creating people from dust bunnies and ribs
*  magical tree of knowledge
*  god speaking from a burning bush
*  ritual cannibalism, by eating god in the form of a cracker
