What causes the tear initally? Is this because of a poor diet? What are the negative side effects of Glyceryl trinitrate 0.2%. After treatment how can one prevent a re-occuring problem?

Probably due to muscle spasm. also caused by Crohn's Disease ,Syphilis and Tuberculosis. Hope that hellps.
trinitrate causes headache. wear gloves when you apply it.

As for side effects of Glyceryl trinitrate: Up to 80% have headaches, 1 in 13 have anal burning. Dizziness. Interacts with alcohol, other nitrates. Contraindications: severe anemia, glaucoma, hypotension, raised intracranial pressure, pregnancy, breast feeding

Hello, This can be very painful. They are normally caused by being too constipated, which tears your anus as it comes out. Normally they heal on there own, but maybe a little painful as it does so, You may also get a tiny amount of blood when you wipe, this will be bright red, and a small amount. (if you pass alot of blood see you DR)
Eating a sensible diet along with high fibre, and maybe consitpation products that help you go.

The only thing I have ever heard of that causes anal fissures is anal sex...

my son had this when he was two years old and it hurt so much he wudnt go to the toilet. he ended up in hospital and they had to put him to sleep and stretch his anal passage. he was on fibrogel for ages. good luck

erm..proberly poor diet..my brother had this..they put vaseline on the skin that tore..every time hr went to toilet ( the doctor told him to do it ) the vaseline was a great healer..ROFL..makes me laugh..

hard stools cause the initial tear. try laxatives. i am not sure about your second ques so will not attempt to answer
