I always thought that you put the hamburger and rice in the pepper while the meat and rice were raw. Every recipe that I have found says to cook the meat in a skillet with the onions and stuff then stuff it in the pepper. Is this right? Then if you did it that way would the hamburger still be in balls in the pepper or would it be like a big pile of mush inside. I don't get it. There are recipes that say cook meat and onions add sauce then stuff, to me, if i did it that way would it be a firm ball after cooking or like i said before a big pepper full of mushy hamburger soup. Help me please. Thanks

Ooh I love stuffed bell peppers and your about to make me go home and make some. This is the way I do it... First I cook the ground meat and onion what not you know as if you were making tacos. Cook the rice. slightly boil the peppers. next stuff the peppers with the ground beef and rice (yes it'll kind of be like mush) sprinkle some tomato base sauce on top with plenty of cheese and put it in the oven so that it all melts together. take it out and walla. There are many different ways to make stuffed peppers and each person will probably do something different. I put the hamburger and rice in the pepper uncooked with tomato soup, sauce or paste. Basically I work with whatever I have in the kitchen. It is fun and spontaneous and a little different each time. Oh and btw, comment to the answer up above, my peppers don't burn. I also add cheese to mine, once again this will vary to whatever kind I want to use up.

You cook the rice first. Add it to the raw meat and seasonings to stuff the bell pepper. Place peppers in a casserole dish. Add your sauce over prepared peppers. Make sure the dish is covered with foil. Cook till hamburger meat is done and peppers are soft.

My husband loves my stuffed peppers. Fry up the hamburger in a pan, drain, add onion, garlic, parsley, paprika and italian seasoning. Stuff the whole pepper to the brim. Pour Spaghetti sauce over the top of the peppers and sprinkle with grated cheese. I like Romano. Bake until the peppers are soft. I serve them with corn on the cob and applesauce.

stuffed peppers

4 large peppers your choice what kind
one package of rice (i prefer zatarains dirty rice mix)
cook rice as directed
in bowl add 2 pounds of ground beef, the rice mix,cup of tomato sauce, salt and pepper, any other seasonings you like.
pour 1/2 cup tomato sauce in each pepper then add the rice and ground beef mixture then poor tomato sauce over the peppers
then cook for one hour on 350..

the peppers wont burn if you add enough tomato sauce to the peppers..i never cook the hamburger first..and they turn out fine every time..when i cook it this way they come out firm like a meatloaf...not mushy...seems to me if you cook the ground beef first it wouldnt stick together and would be mushy
