I think the better comparison is breaking the law to come into a country or stay on your own country lawfully and change things there.

The reason that most immigrants leave their home countries is often because the problems that exist there are overwhelming to them and their governments are not in a place to help them. This country has a system created to allow change to occur. It may be slow at times and may not go in the direction that we want but it is possible. My family immigrated here from the Caribbean where due to the political & economic actions of the "1st world" countries such as the US and the UK are so economically and politically unstable that it would have been impossible to do things like educate thier children or buy a home. They often don't return because after investing in a country, creating a new life & seeing your children born & raised there, it is incredibly difficult to lose all of that in the HOPE that MAYBE things may change in 4 or 5 generations. That's a lot to ask of people.

I didn't see the word illegal immigrants. So immigrants that are legal. I don't care if the stay and fix their country or not. It is the cowardly and lazy illegal alien invaders that should stay and not come to ours and F it up. The illegal should fix theirs and stay out of ours
Everyone is screwed by their country until they stand up and force their gov to fix itself. We did a few hundred yrs ago. Now everyone wants to rape the USA for all they can get,
Stephizza
ILLEGAL is not a race
You only use the race card when you have no fact or reason to support your racist views
It is you that are the racist there was no race in the question just that added by the racist their selves

It's about opportunity and ability to take care of your family among other things.
A lot of third world countries are basket cases. They have poor to non-existant school systems, devestated economies and a complete lack of opportunity to succeed. Look at Mexico. Many people live in destitution. they come to America because they can earn a decent living. Many of them send money back to their families in Mexico.
In other cases, a person manages to get an education, but they can't find a job. Going to a country with a better economy allows them to get a job, support themselves and advance in their fields. If they stayed at home, they'd have barely a subsistance wage and struggle to survive.
And in still others, it's about civil unrest. If a person lives in a war zone and can leave, they sometimes will. It's about survival.
It's not about supporting one's country, it's about taking care of themselves and their family for a lot of these folks. And frankly, I don't blame them.
Once they've taken care of themselves and their families, many of these folks support causes to help their homes.

I hope you never have to live in a nation that can make you dissapear for speaking. Many people come here from such places.
For the guy who said "because they are to chicken ***** to stay and fight".
Do you think it is easy coming to a place were you go through a desert or cross a river to take remedial jobs to make a living easy. grow up its just better than they had before.

because our 'representation' is interested in 'globalization' AKA
the whole one-world-government trip. They give a tinker's damn what we as citizens or voters want, 'they know best' is their domestic policy, and YOU, 'citizen' will shut up and LIKE it...well maybe not in those EXACT words, but that does seem to be the general trend at work, here. Be sure to vote, to speak out, to take a position on illegal immigration, and the years of lack of enforcement thereof. If your incumbent is disinclined to act on the issue, then vote him or her out. Enforcement-oriented reform is needed on the immigration issue, whether they like it or not, it's time to be a little more realistic in our policy and less 'give the world a big cookie' etc.

desperation. Because you, along with everyone else would do the same if you were in their shoes. Their countries and governments are at fault and should resolve their economic and social issues fast. In the mean time they are not just going to sit there and watch their families starve because it is human nature to want to achieve greater things in life.

so lets take for example Mexico, do u think that mexicans just sit around watching how their country falls apart? its not that they dont do anything about it, its the goverment that no matter who they put in front jus screws them in some way. corruption rules and money buys everything there. so what is it left there to do? nothing unfortunately.
