First get her a complete neurologic exam to rule out serious problems like a brain tumor or vascular diseases which can lead to or be part of a stroke.

If all the tests are negative Gingko Biloba is good for this.

I have thought about this situation and this is what I would do.

Don't give her time or the need to recall
There is no need for coordination of action if you can remove that need.
Try to be patient and treat her as if everything is normal.
Be inventive now and take her to the park to look at the ducks.
Plan and make any normal day an adventure where a journey to the shops become a journey of discovery.
Tell her how much you need her help in things.
Ask her to help you find things even though you know where they are. Depend on her more even if you don't need her help.
I don't think anyone can help her more than yourself but there might be regressive drugs the doctor could prescribe?
It is something we were born for mate.
To look after our loved ones for ever and ever.
Got to stop
Good Luck.

This is a hard battle, someone very close to me has the same illness. They have short term memory loss and also co-ordination of action. They were diagnosed with cataracts, but even although they had to have operations on both eyes, then laser treatment on both eyes, they found out that the brain had aged before the body and this was part of a whole issue which led to them seeing a Neurologist.

However, as there was no cure for it, except glasses for their eyes of course, some Christians began helping them in their daily chores. They were really comforting and loving towrds them that they turned there life over to Christ. The problem is still there, but it doesn't seem nearly as bad. They keep a note book handy to write things down in case of forgetting them, and this has become such a habit, that they keep the notes all the time now.

I have a problem with memory loss
The way I found to deal with it is
not to plan to many tihngs as I forget the first thing I was meant to do
Tell people not to bambard her with information just little bits, the important bits she might be more likely to remember the important things than a whole bunch of stuff.

Make notes of what needs to be done, I forget to do silly things like making My partner a cuppa coffee, because I was asked to do several things at once so forgot the first few things

dont tell her what she has forgotten try to jog her memory by talking about things that are related to it
for example she forgot to take out the washing in the washing machine
say how much washing is there to do? can I help you to sort the washing into different loads
you havent told her what it is she forgot, she might say oh I just remembered what I was meant to do.

I cant help with the coordination of action
Hope what I've said has helped a little

Assuming you have already been to the doctor and your wife is not a pothead.... I would actually suggest video games- improves hand eye coordination and exercises your memory. You could also get her a little tape recorder to record notes for herself. Try doing exercise together, like long walks where you could go over her day and hopefully spark memories of the day so she doesn't forget- talking about things helps you remember them better. Also read and discuss books together. That way you could help her fill in the blanks if she can't remember a specific plot turn or set up- once again exercising her memory.

It may or may not be due to physical conditions. In any case get assessed her neuroticism level. If it is high then she not only has loss of short term memory but also of long term memory as well.

If she voluntarily practices mindfulness exercises, she can improve.

Try to be careing and conciderate to her, just think how she may feel and how frustrating it is for her..be patient with her, try not to say "you know..." "you remember" try not to jump in if she find it hard to do something .(coordination) .give her a little space to try herself then offer to help.."but only if she needs you to" Try not to get cross or show frustration..If you havent been to a doctor do this straight away he/she can help and sugest other ways to help your wife..you sound very caring any way but any help is better than no help..Take care x x

Lay of the Marijuana... heh heh

Seriously though, go see a doctor, sounds like it could be a balance issue because of an inner ear infection.
