I think many " chat up lines" are time wasting because they are very phony and easy to see through.
If people join a social club like a dance or music group or a fan club it gives you chance to talk to the other person about a shared interest and your interest in them isn't so obvious.
Also if the other person isn't so "interested" in you you get "let down" lighter.
I'm told one of the best chat up routines is simply to smile and say "Would you like a drink?"
The other person can say NO as well as YES.

Sorry do not use chat lines, they are rubbish.
If I want to meet a women then I just go upto her and try to start a conversation, if she ignores me or is rude, then all I have lost is 30 seconds, but she has lost one off the last good ones on the shelf.

I used this one once, and it worked then, but then I got married, never needed to chat up another girl again:
I went up to her and asked, ' Excuse me, how has your day been so far?'
and she replied, ' not too bad, why?',
I then said, ' oh, nothing it's just that I think you look extremely beautiful today'
it really put a smile on her face and we went out for quite a few years.

I don't have a chat up line... it just depends on the surroundings, situation, and what the woman seems to be interested in.
