First of all cut out all dairy from your diet. Dairy is the most mucous producing substance(hardly food if you knew what is done to it) known to man. Calcium is best derived from green vegetables and the most calcium rich food known to man are sesame seeds(if your worrying about that).

Make sure your diet supports your immune system.

Use a combination of Sudafed cold and flu and a nasal spray if you have bad nasal congestion.

Any phlegm, mucous, snot should be expelled and not made to be reprocessed by your body.

Avoid drinking cold/ice cold anything. Avoid cigarette smoking, alcohol and recreational drugs.

Avoid activities that over heat or over cool the body.
eg. swimming, sauna, spa, very hot showers, intensive sport, gym, running etc.

If you maintain an excercise regime please put it on the backburner or do mild, soft excercise.

Get good uninterrupted sleep.

Stay hydrated.

Get well soon.

Cold Medicine That Works Fast

I have suffered from a supressed immune system my whole life. My tonsils were removed. This is why it is so important to keep your immune system up so you won't get a cold in the first place. I used to get sick all the time, but with healthy eating and supplements, I hardly ever get sick.

I have found something over the years that really works quick. Any product that contains Echinacea, Zinc and Vitamin C will take care of your cold in about a day.

The product I use is...

Wellness Formula / Bio Align (Source Naturals)

I have tried many combinations and this one seems to work the best. Take 2 pills every 4 hours until your symptoms are gone. It takes about 1 day to get rid of a cold and about 1 1/2 days to get rid of the flu.

It is very important that you don't wait to start treatment. It will work in the middle of a cold, but the best way is to start taking it when you first feel bad. You can shorten your cold to about 1/2 a day. There is no need for you to suffer.

This product boosts your immune system to help fight off a cold, but it should only be taken when you are sick. Taking the product daily will not help you prevent a cold. Only boosting your immune system will help prevent a cold. A really good multi vitamin will help you get there.

Cut out all refined foods, fatty foods, sugars and simple carbs. Eat fresh fruits and vegetables, and try to avoid red meat and pork. And of course drink plenty of water. That is your body's way of getting rid of bad things. Without plenty of water your body can't get rid of the virus very fast.

Good luck. I know how bad you can feel with a cold. Before I started eating healthy I got them all the time. I have eaten healthy for 2 years now and have not had a cold or the flu (or anything for that matter) for 2 years now. I have saved a bundle on doctor visits.

There really isn't a quick way to get rid of a cold, even with medicine. The thing that works the best for me is sleep. Just get all the sleep you can, and sleep thru the misery.

You cannot get "rid" of a cold. Colds are caused by a virus and that virus has a "course" it must run before you are better. There are no cures for these viruses. You can take OTC cold medications to relieve the symptoms of a cold. Check labels and buy a medication with only the ingredients that you need to treat your particular situation. You may need to experiment with different products to decides which one works best for you personally.

Take a paracetamol medicine (TAKE CARE NOT TO EXCEED DOSE) and go to bed. Rest and sleep helps you recover from viruses. Also drink fruit juice - fresh orange juice is best - to get your vitamin C up. Finally, avoid caffeine, alcohol and smoke. If you have a sore throat, drink hot water (boil the kettle, and drink it when it's just cool enough to drink). Also make sure you eat enough, and eat fresh food not fast food. Lemsip is very helpful, but may not be available in your country.

I think Airborne works really good. You can buy it at any Drug Store, in the Pharmacy area. It is tablets that you put in a glass of water. There is also, these Cold Swabs(look like Q-tips) that you put in your nose. I've never tried them,so not sure if they work.

Drink lots of fluids like water, orange juice etc. That is the best thing for flushing the virus out of your system.

There's no cure for the common cold. All you can do is let it run its course. You can feel more comfortable by taking drinks and pain-killers if you have a headache.

The best medicine is homemade chicken soup, lots of rest, hot tea with honey. Steam yourself.
