I hope so. Not because I just want a black president, but because my candidate of choice happens to be black.

Yes, of course.

Should this happen, the president is likely to be one of the most able presidents the US has ever had. We should not underestimate the challenges that would face a black candidate, so to win through these and to gain the majority of voters support in the US would take an exceptional candidate.

A black president would also make a great statement to the rest of the world about inclusion, diversity and equal opportunity.

Statistically, you could map when this is reasonably likely to happen by looking at population diversity, but I would say 2012 or 2016 would certainly be a strong possibility.

Now, what about a black femail president?

Yes , I would vote for Barack Obama anytime. I hoped Colon Powell would run, but understood his decision not too. If our government can protect some as detested as Bush, surely it could protect our first Black President? Though it comes to mind that only Liberals have been assassinated.

Well, not in the near future, but I am hopeful that it will happen in my lifetime. It would say so much to the rest of the world, and to this society. I would, however, be fearful of his life, as there are more bigoted nutcases out there than I would want to believe.

Yes, I do. I think Condoleeza Rice in 2012 is the most likely. Her genius IQ & experience in diplomacy are great pluses. She is qualified & moderately right, so acceptable to wide range of
voters. Colin Powell is still an option. Liberals like Al Sharpton & Jessie Jackson will never pick up the moderate vote.

Only if there's an individual who is independent enough to stand on what they believe as principle i.e. not overly influenced by party affiliation, race/gender identification, family, religion...you get the picture.

In fact, I believe many people want someone who is going to stand on principle...right or wrong; democrat or republican; black or white. Not changing w/ the latest gallup poll or headline news.

I hope someday we are intelligent enough to vote based on rational thought rather than the color of a persons skin, gender, religion or any other irrelevant fact.
I do not see that day in my lifetime unfortunately.
