My son is 7 months old...and is not ready for any chewing food at all...i tried the gerber puffs the other day and he almost choked. I want to know if this is a typical schedule in a 7 month old boy...in the morning...he has 8 ounces of formula..then infant cereal mixed with formula or a jar of baby food cereal before his nap...when awakes from nap...8 ounces bottle and then a baby dinner with veggies a while later...a catnap of an hour and then another 8 ounce bottle before bed.

You know all babies are different. My first daughter took awhile to get onto jars of baby food. Now my 5 month old is already on them and she eats a lot of what i eat already as long as its mashed up. As long as he is gaining weight and making progress I dont think it really matters. Some babies are a little slower at reaching milestones than others and that's just fine. If you are truly concerned I would talk with his pediatrition. If he has taken to all the other foods in the jar ok, with no allergic reactions, he is probably fine to start introducing the level 3's. If he has any problems with them then I would back off. Just relax and have fun with your baby, because before long these times will be over. I don't know if this is your first baby or not, but I know with my first I was so worried about everything and with this second baby I'm so much more relaxed and just go with the flow, and she is doing great!!

I have a 7 month old daughter.

At this point, she really has zero interest in baby food. She is eating puffs, goldfish crackers, etc..

Her current favorite is adult canned fruit cut up into little pieces. She probably drinks about 20 oz. of formula still a day. She might eat some baby cereal ever other day or so.

My daughter takes two naps a day. Both are probably between 15 minutes and an hour.

At this stage, I wouldn't worry too much about what your baby does compared with others. When I had my first child, I did the same thing. I found that babies are very different. One baby will have a lot of hair and can't even crawl. another baby will be bald and walking already....

Just relax and let your son choose for himself. He'll let you know when he is ready for things.

Your schedule sounds totally normal. If he's gagging on the puffs, he's probably not ready for table food yet. Wait a week or two and offer them again. It may just be that he's surprised at the taste, too. Take it slow and follow his lead - he'll be on 'real' food soon enough.

RE: the stage 3 foods - you can start introducing those now, as far as the fruits in particular go. The main difference in those is the volume. As to the vegs and the main dishes, I'd wait until he is eating more table foods without gagging, as some of them are kind of chunky. It won't be much longer though.

He is fine, when he tries to copy you eating I would start trying the Gerber bite size stuff. Babies develope at their own pace. My oldest wasn't on solids fully untill 15m old. My younger two were by 7-8m. If he is hungry offer him more, if hes content then don't try to overfeed him.

My kids ate almost everything I ate at that age in tiny pieces or mashed.
