If he had a will, you should have already been notified. If not, find the obit from the newspaper where he lived. That should give you some information to start with. The state will sometimes hold his estate until all relatives can be located.
Am sorry for your loss. It's hard to lose a parent, wether you had daily contact or wether you haven't seen them in years, or no contact at all. It's still hard. Good luck I hope this helps

If he had a will, the lawyer or executor of the will notifies you to attend the reading.
If he died intestate (no will), then his wife gets it all. If he's not married, then the next of kin need to petition the courts for a probate hearing.
And I'm sorry for your loss.

I'm sorry for you loss.
First of all find out if he had a Will or not, and if he did have one find out who the executor is, secondly try to find out about insurance and bank accounts, those generally have beneficiaries chosen by the person.

You are not entitled to anything.
He can leave his money to whoever he wishes, it was his money.
If he did not have a will, the court will decide who gets what.
I am so sorry for you that you did not know him or have a relationship with him while he was still around to appreciate you.
Peace!

If your speaking of a will, you'll be notified by it's executor. Otherwise it'll be up to his immediate family, but as you stated, you barely knew him, so I really wouldn't hold much expectations toward what you will receive

He had to have a lawyer or executor handling the estate provided there was something in the estate. I should be public record.

His lawyers! If he let you anything in his will they will know. But if they haven't gotten in touch with you yet there is probably nothing!
