People seem to always think just because you are having some behavioral issues that you need to seek help from a pshycologist. But isnt it possible that as you become more aware of your negative actions that you can have enough self control to rectify the issue on your own without professional help?

If you have a tremendous will power and a deep rooted faith in yourself you can change! its easy as that.
Take me for eg. I was and still am bi-polar and have social anxiety..but I realised that I am the controller of my brain and the brain is not my controller.
When Ever I feel like getting a mood swing..I catch the mood and try to go back to a normal state.
This has helped me now..its been only about 10 days and already I feel much clam and relaxed.

Just remember You will change..only when you want to change.

Psychologists and counselors are not always necessary. Sometimes, people are self-aware enough to take care of their problems. It helps to have friends and family that you trust and can talk with. Other people don't have that, or have been hurt badly enough that it really helps to have therapy (like being abused as a child).

Psychologists are useful and have their place. Self-awareness, however, is just as important as self-control. If you have problems that you fail to rectify, then a counselor is probably a good idea. If you can fix them yourself in an acceptable amount of time to prevent major damage to your life, career, and relationships, then chances are you don't need to see one.

According to most psychologists, no one is "normal". Depending on what problem you think you have, there are natural supplements that more appropriately address mental issues by affecting the causes instead of the symptoms. If a psychologist prescribes drugs, it's usually to help those around you cope with your "problem".
