Sure hope so because I am flying next week. As far as the airplane maintenance goes, I would say yes. As far as the pilot's ability, i would say yes. But as terrorist issues, I would say the FAA is doing the best it can be make flying the safest possible.

I have hundreds of thousands of miles in the air (over a half-million by now I think) and I am still here.

I've seen some weird things on planes before (people screaming that they are going to die, running up and down the aisle....a mircoburst or whatever they call it when you lose 100 feet of altitude in 0.5 seconds is interesting too), but almost nothing that made me fear for my life.

The only times I had ever thought I was going to die is when I was sleeping when I landed. When you don't know whats going on and you hear the plane it...it is enough to make you $#!^ yourself.

I'd say it is very safe though.

I think its just as safe if not safer then any other form of transportation.

Just think, most of us get in a car everyday. Whether behind the wheel or as a passenger. Are cars really safe? I believe that there's a lot more risk of getting into an accident while in a car then there is while being in a plane.

I think that traveling by air is safer than traveling by car. There are something like 35.000 flights a day in US and approx 200 people on each. Plane crashes are much rarer than car crashes.

Sky diving - travelling by air - not too safe.
Air Baloon - very sedate and quite safe - ask Richard Branson.
Aeroplane - safer than even walking.
Rocket - not advised.

Yes and no. It is safer than driving in a car or walking or biking. But it will never be a 100% guarantee that you will not crash.

Yes, it is safe...
However it is becoming such a "hassle" that it
is now faster & easier to drive anything less than 200 miles.
