Has this happened to anyone? I used to have straight hair as a kid. Then when I was about 16 I went to the salon for a hair cut. Ever since, my hair is very wavy, almost curly. Why did that happen?

i have been a hairstylist for 22 yrs,and also experienced the same thing,now at 42 my hair is really curly,,its your genes,body chemistry,its you and its still growing inside you.the human brain doesnt mature fully till um...mindblank...25??,anyway the best tip ican give u on curly hair is to dont fight it,it will do what it wants no matter what u do if its dry use heavy conditioners and oil based products,,,enjoy the new u....gail.

If you had really long hair, the weight may have pulled out the curl. So when you got it cut, it sprang up. Also hormones can wreak havoc on hair. I went from straight to wavy/curly hair when I was 12 too. It was a shock at first but now I love it! You have been blessed though. Most people are stuck with the hair they were born with.

Our body and features change as we age, it's very normal. I used to have straight hair that was light brown kinda blonde as a kid and then when I turned twelve it turned dark brown and very curly.

that happened to me in 6th grade!
my hair was STICK straight, started getting wavy, then BOOM i had super curly hair. i love it though. cause i can leave it curly or straighten it out. the best of both worlds. <3
just get yourself a GOOD flatiron like a chi if you like your hair straight still. :-)

oh its really strange i have seen so much people whit curly hair at child hood and straight hair after . i think you had long hair when you were a child if you let it grow it may change

dont worry it happened to me to. check if there is anyone in your family that has curly hair(like your grandparents or parents) and maybe that why...
