That's difficult to tell because there's more involved in weight than simply "how far the needle spins around the weigh scale". You need to look at other criteria such as how heavily muscled are you (the "number" 149 may not be too big, but the distribution of that number between fat and muscle could be unhealthy) and related to this you need to assess your "frame" are you what is sometimes referred to as "big boned"? If so, that could account for the 149 in a way that would not be unhealthy. Perhaps the easiest test is how easily can you complete your daily chores. If you can function easily daily and still have sufficient energy to handle any unexpected energy demands, then your weight probably isn't a problem. If you're huffing and puffing throughout the day and constantly need to sit down and take a breather, that may be an indication that your weight could be a problem.

The real question is - how do you feel about yourself? Do you like how you fit in clothes? Then don't go by a chart or what magazine's tell you - I went from being so paranoid that at five foot 8, I was 124 lbs. and if I went over, I would purge. Now, I'm healthy, I don't weigh myself and if I start feeling like I'm retaining water or just not good about myself, I examine what I've changed in the past couple of days and modify - increase my exercise, whatever.

The bottom line is - everyone is different - love yourself for that, okay!

All my best to you,
Michelle

Are you healthy, are you comfortable with the way that you look? If you can say yes to these questions them stay the way you are who cares what anyone else thinks! Those charts that tell you what you sould weigh to you size are not always right I am 5'9 and weigh 180 pounds, which 30 pounds more what the poster in the doc's office says that I should weigh, but can still wear a size 6 jeans comfortably and my doc says that I am healthy so who cares what the scale says!

Really you'd need a lot more information than just your height and weight. Age, the amount of muscle as opposed to fat on your body, size of your body frame (are you slight, or more sturdily built?), etc., all come into play in determining if you weigh too much.

According to the body mass index you are overweight, but the BMI scale really shouldn't be trusted without taking in to account your above-mentioned qualities.

For the best answer, ask your doctor.

No. You aren't overweight, but, if you have children or lead an unhealthy lifestyle, you have a bigger chance of gaining weight and getting diseases, especially heart disease. I'm 5 foot 6 and weigh 110 pounds, but I try to lead a healthy lifestyle.

What does it matter what others think of you. Who cares if others think we are fat or too skinny. What matter is if you think you are, and if you do exercise and eat right.
take care, and stop focusing on what others think.
plus we can't even see what you look like so the answers to your question shouldn't even matter on the net.

Try visiting your GP and getting their opinion. If you are healthy that is the main thing.
