When I was a christian, years ago now, I did! I was happy to be hated, persecuted and tormented - because it proved to me the bible was right, when it said this would be the case. The more the merrier, I felt, as it merited a better afterlife for me, proportionate to my suffering on Earth!

Are you not able to believe and ACCEPT the words of your bible, nowadays? Why do you (as a collective of course, meaning not as individuals, as we are all different) whine, moan and begrudge what you KNOW to be "the way of your Lord"?

guitargal: I like your SELECTIVE READING...or were the words "collective" and "individual" too long for you?

while I was formerly steeped in that cult of christianity, getting resistance or persecuted was interpreted as a sign from God I was doing the right thing

now I look and see that reality was checking my beliefs and evenutally I dropped the claims and accepted the facts

I want to thank all the agnostic and athiest people out there who saved me from the damnation that we know as religion

now I love others enough to do the same, help them and just speak the truth

that's what got me, hearing the truth agains my own doctrines

I think this question and the answers to it belong to the Jews and not to the Christians; they are the masters of suffering and the leaders in enduring persecution

Matthew 5 says
Blessed are ye when men shall revile you and persecute you and say all manner of evil things against you falsely for my sake.
Rejoice and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in Heaven.

I do---you are right---I have grown to know that GOD is on my side, so who can be against me?

People don't bother me anymore, Praise God!! I used to wear my feelings on my sleeves, and the devil constantly used people to bring me down.

Now, I am in the army of the Lord!
Those that persecute me, just make me turn to God, and say,
"Thank you, God, that YOU love me!"

I don't recall Jesus thanking those who beat and crucified him. He prayed for God's will to be done, even if it meant his own suffering. So in my suffering I praise God because in my weakness I am made strong through Him.

Praise God!

I do not moan and groan. Not ALL Christians hate their suffering. You are putting them all on a pedestal.
