I found an excellent job working at a university in the student union cafe, hours where perfect and flexible,i got 4weeks of at easter(optional) ,3 weeks at xmas(optional) and all the summer vacation of with my kids, only had to worry about the half term weeks in feb,may and october.before this i worked for city catering for the schools as a mobile assistant cook, which not as much hours but you deffinatley share the holidays of with the kids. my advice would be try the local school, colleges or universites for jobs, you don`t have to do the catering side. Will have to fill out a disclosure form though, sometimes you have to pay for this your self. about £35

When my kids were small I was a stay-at-home Mom for 11 years. I had no college ed so working for min wage was not worth the time to pay a sitter. Besides I wanted to raise my kids, not a sitter. So I took in sewing and laundry for people. It's amazing that people will pay someone to do their wash! I also ran errands and occasionally babysat (I HATED babysitting)!
Find something you can do at home for a few years while your kids are little. There is time later for a JOB!

You don't say what you do in a school. I had same prob but have worked in a local high school for over 3 years. I work as a teaching assistant and it fits in really well.

Hi

How about a job that needs shiftwork where you could almost choose your hours ie supermarket, shops, cafes, cleaning.

How about job sharing with a friend and watch their kids while s/he works and vice versa?

Try writing to local companies to see if they need office help between 9-3.

Does your local library need people?

Could you set up your own business ie Ebay shop?

Good luck!

no idea, i'm a dinner lady. my husband says I should work evenings in a supermarket to supplement income. Used to be a barmaid but found out he was chatting to a girl online whilst I was at work.

That's why so many parents are working at home, or making their kids their job.
