What is the difference between steak, hamburger, chicken, and lobster? Which one I think is "best" depends on the mood I am in and what I am doing at that particular time. Sometimes I want a good beer and other times it may be a nice whiskey to sip and enjoy. When it comes to whiskey/[Scotch] whisky...my preferences are Redbreast 12yo, Green Spot, Glenlivet Nadurra, and Glenfiddich 12yo I had never heard of Royal Stag whisky, so I looked it up. It appears to be some sort of botched "Frankenstein" creation that should be labeled more as a rum and not a "whisky" as it is based on neutral spirits that are distilled from fermented molasses with only a small portion consisting of traditional malt whisky of about 10 to 12 percent.

Wine is fermented, beer is brewed and spirits like whisky, rum, brandy and gin are usually distilled. Distilling is extremely dangerous so in most countries it is illegal to distill spirits without a license and owning the equipment to run a distillery is likely to get someone a prison sentence without one. Drinking improperly distilled spirits can also lead to blindness or death, they can be highly toxic. Personally, I am really partial to scotch whisky's (though some of the bourbons like Jack Daniels or Woodford's Special Reserve can be quite nice as well). Hide it away from Ashish though!

Rum is a spirit made from sugar-cane by-products such as molasses and sugar cane juice by a process of fermentation and distillation. The distillate, a clear liquid, is then usually aged in oak and other casks.
An alcoholic distillate obtained from a fermented mash of grains such as barley, rye or corn. There are many varieties of whiskey -
Brandy is a potable spirit, distilled from a fermented mash of grapes or other fruit. Most brandy is distilled from wine. White wine, made from white grapes, is used most often. Wine that has recently finished its fermentation process makes the best brandy. An aged wine, even if it is of superior quality, won't make a good brandy.

Most got the whisky and rum sources correct, but brandy is distilled wine aged in oak barrels (usually). It is NOT fortified wine or wine with a high alcohol content. There is no natural way (yeast) to get wine to 80 proof.

For starters, taste!

Whiskey is made from "corn squeezins" and/or grains and is easily mixed with just about anything and still holds true

Rum is made basically from fermented sugar cane molasses...mixes well with just about anything too

Brandy is made from wine (grapes/fruit) and is usually drunk plain...few drinks call for the addition of brandy

When Whiskey is available, I enjoy the Drink.

When there is no Whiskey, I look for Rum XXX.

When both are not available, I content with Brandy
and sleep in the Brandah, because it is quite hot.

The difference is in the
[1] Method of production.
[2] Raw Material used for preparation.
[3] Colour of the finished alcohol
[4] Ageing they undergo.
[5] Modes and methods of storage.
[6] Alcoholic contenet in the final product.
[7] And finally the taste also varies.
