both,
the trouble is is that we all get less and less disipline, my grandparents were alot stricter with my parents than my parents were with me and so on and so on. which means kids are getting worse and worse, another few generations time and the world will be full of ill diciplined people all doing what they want when then want, its quite worrying really when you think about it

Yes the children are spoiled. Who's spoiling them? The parents! These parents buy everything under the sun 4 these kids--just 2 keep up with the Jones, or 2 buy their love. When everything is handed 2 a kid on a silver platter-he/she doesn't understand the true meaning of working hard 2 get what u want. It's O.K. 2 reward ur kid for good behavior and grades, etc.. but when a kid is sitting in a room with high-def TVs and computers and ps2-psp-game boys-game cubes-x-box- x-box 360-name brand clothes-telephone and cellphone-all b-4 the age of 13 -something is wrong with this pic. That is where the lack of discipline comes from-- the parent. This is why Lil sally or joey will jump in mommy and daddy's face and say I hate u-I don't luv u- u get me sick--bcuz the parent was trying 2 be their kids friend from the start. And when they start getting out of control like that- a parent doesn't know anything but 2 buy their kid. They always disciplined with material objects. Parents are also scared of these child protective agencies--that's why they don't discipline. Afraid that Lil sally or joey might make up a fantastic lie if they don't get their kid what they want.

An easy answer is yes.

Are mine spoilt (I have 3 kids)? I think not.

And why do parents spoil kids?

Is it guilt (not spending enough time with them)...?
Is it to show their love (more material goods equates to I love you lots)... ?

As to discipline. There does need to be discipline in the home else the kids will walk all over you.

And discipline needs to start when the kids are young. Because I discplined my kids (including smacks on the bottom) does not mean I dont love them.
In fact it means that the kids are now older a word is often enough.

But I'll see in about 10-15 years time what the kids really thought of my parenting skills...
;)

They definitely need more discipline but the parents don't always follow through with punishment. Kids need to be taught the value of money and learn to appreciate the things they have. It's mostly the parents fault for spoiling them, but it's very hard. Anyone that says parenting is easy doesn't have kids or doesn't care about the ones they have.

Depends on the family and the parenting style. In general yes I find more kids to be spoiled and need more discipline. Or maybe its just more obvious since people are out more now then in the past when they were more likely home.

Yes they definitely need to be disciplined much better! I was smacked, as were many people and haven't turned out mentally wrong! I saw interviews with 2 parents on the topic of smacking, one was for and one was against, the mother who agreed with smacking had a well behaved child the mother who didn't had a horrid little brat. As long as parents don't get carried away with smacking it should be allowed!

I think it's a shame. I blame it partially on the parents for not being there or talking with them about it, and if they did then I applaud them for trying, but it's also the responsibility of the teen to use protection. I wish people would stop fighting with the schools about providing them with condoms, kids are going to do it anyways so if they do, they should be prepared.

My opinion.... I think parents need to spend more time with their children, too many people don't take an interest in the children they have, they do whats necessary sure but don't really get to know them very well, working all hours god sends to make ends meet. We lose sight of our children and who they are and what they are becoming. If we just take time to take a closer look, then we might find it easier to advise them and keep them well balanced. If we did this maybe they would do less to require us to chastise them.

Yes and Yes! totally, i would say my son is spoilt in as much as he has the lateast trainers and toys but he will NOT be spoilt and get away with not using his manners and he will always behave when we are in other peoples houses or out in public i.e restaurant that is something i will not tolerate. it is a fine balance that a lot of parents do not seem to know

I think if the parents are spoiled then it stand s to reason that the children will also be spoiled.

I can tell you that not all children are spoiled, I'm a parent of two children and I make sure they are not spoiled!
