As has been pointed out, the egg shell color only has to do with the breed of the hen laying the eggs. An egg is an egg, and some people say that 'fresh layed' eggs have a richer flavor, I can't say I could really tell. We had chickens, and the only thing you have to watch out for, is that sometimes when you opened an egg, you would find little gravel bits around the yolk! An advantage of the 'inspected' storebought variety! Taste of the egg, however does vary from breed of hen. Geese eggs are huge and I didn't like the taste too much. Of course it could have come from what grass/grains they were eating. That does make a difference. o.k. school's out!

Okay here is the REAL answer . Its the chicken, if its a brown chicken you get brown eggs, if its a white chicken you get white eggs. The taste and the nutritional value is exactly the same.

They are from different breeds of chicken, you even get pastel blue eggs from Brazilian Black tail hens.
All chicken eggs should taste the same. Organic eggs will have some more flavor, but otherwise no difference.
Eggs from other birds eg ducks or ostriches will taste different.

It's the earlobes. Different species produce different colored eggs. There are even more exotic chickens that produce red speckled eggs and others. Other than that, nothing. Check out David Feldman's Imponderables books for more information.

I've always wondered this too.

My guess is that the taste is the same, but the color of the shell is affected by the type of food the chickens are being fed. Certain grains versus whatever else is given to chickens.

There is no difference but some folks think that brown eggs taste better but I can't personally vouch for that one.

white eggs are produced by employing chickend with a managed nutrition plan of processed nutrition with a lot of calcium and protein and little or no of something else. brown eggs are produced by employing chickens that devour really a lot something it really is in the front of them, a lot of minerals will make the egg type of brownish.

I read once that they are exactly the same, nutritional values, calories etc. but the color has to do with the type of hehn. And the quality of either both can vary because of the food the hehn eats
