I can answer this with both perspectives in mind. I'm only 25 so I remember how it was when I was a teenager, but I'm also resposible for my 17 year old sister-in-law. Parents have a pretty good idea what's going on even when you think they don't. No matter how much you think you're getting away with stuff, they know. Your parents love you and they want to protect you, some parents think that total control is the only way to do this. Believe me, that's how I treated my sister-in-law, however if you want your children to grow up and be a decent part of society you have to give them some rein. Let them make their own decisions and also let them fall flat on their face when they make the wrong ones. Some parents just don't know how to let go. Just remember that in their eyes, your a 5 year old girl who wants to do all this grown up stuff. Also, have you done anything to lose their trust? Think about it and don't really hold it against them. It's hard to let your children grow up.

It only seems like that! Parents are parents and that is not going to change. Look, parents dont get an instruction booklet when they have kids. Its not like the stork says ok, heres what you need to do. Parents are instinctual and caring and nurturing for the most part. They think about all the mistakes they've made and want to have their child brought up differently then the way they were. Some parents are even very overprotective and thats b/c again, their upbringing. You should be glad that you have parents who care enough even if they can be down right annoying. Sometimes parents do need to allow their children some breathing room but a good parent is someone who wants to make a difference for their child. Maybe look at your parents as just loving caring individuals and start appreciating them for that instead of always listening to them as if they are annoying or irritating. If you can do that and change your listening of them and communicate with them, things will probably be a lot better for you. They just love you thats all. One day you will appreciate this.

Parents don't want to control there kids lives they want to give them the advice and knowledge to be successful in life so that you do not make there same mistakes because they want better for you then what they had. It seems like control but it is actually to better your life and keep you on the right path.

Cause they dont want to see their kids make the same mistakes they did, but they have to do that and let them grow and make their own decisions. Cause if you control their lives they will never move out of your house and always depend on the parents. Or they will run away.

We are very afraid that something bad will happen to our kids. We want them to do better than we did in life. We think we know more because we have been there. We love them so much that their pain is our pain. We want them to be happy every single moment, isolate them from evil and suffering.
It's very, very hard to let go and realize that our kids have to suffer too. Oh, yes, it is hard to let go!

Because they love you and want the best for you. Parents can be over protective but one day yu will be grateful for it. I'm 32 and didn't realize how much my parents were right until I got older.
