First of all you are the parent and what you say goes! Why would an 8 yr old possibly want to wear a thong? For the mother that said her daughter wears it for dance, thats fine its for dance class, not for everyday. Thongs are used to decreased panty lines, when was the last time you over heard an 8 yr old comlaining that her panty line was visible. Leave the thongs for adults. If you let her wear a thong at 8 imagine what she asks for at 10!

yes there are mothers and fathers who let their kids wear them,
My daughter is still less than a year, but when the time come, i will let her wear them if that is what she wants, there are two ways to see thong underwear, one is for looks under clothing/confort/self pleasure , this i approve for whatever age she wants, and the other is for a sexual reason, and for this the use of a thong is with the purpose of letting someone else know you are wearing it, this i dont approve for anyone without the maturity needed to manage their own sexuality, i hope daughter enjoy a healthy sex life when she is old enough but that cant be done at least until you are 17 18 years old

not at 10, but maybe 13. I dont see a reason why not. It's isn't like she is just wearing a thong. And if it isn't showing, i dont see anything wrong with it. It is actually a cleaner look because your panty line doesnt show. And if that is the reason why she wants the wear one, let her in a couple years. But if she wants it to show, then she will probably look trashy.

there is nothing wrong with a 10 yr old acting like she's 10 and not 18 or 20. Kids are exposed to so much adult stuff nowadays and want to grow up too fast. It is one thing to have the whole cell phone debate, expensive designer clothing, etc but this has definite sexual undertones and it not appropriate for a girl her age.

There is no way I would let my daughter wear a thong at that age... she is way way to young!

kdancergi... - a 13 year old worrying about a panty line?? seriously? WAY to young... There are so many other constructive things to worry about than that

Once she can start spending her own monies & purchasing her own clothes, then she can start wearing thongs. Absolutely not allowed to wear at such a young age.
My mother, bf & I were out shopping and saw all the little risque clothing that is there for you girls, OMG, I about flipped out. What little girl needs padded bras, little tiny belly shirts & pants that say "Hot" across the butt. My gf is having a really hard time finding "normal" clothes for her 4 1/2yr old daughter. Something that isn't revealing, very inappropiate and made for little girls.

I would not allow my 10 yr old to wear a thong either. My 20 yr old does and her little sister told her that it was gross and should buy real underwear

I think that is too young also-they aren't comfortable (t least most arent) Why does she want to wear them? My 17 yr old has worn them since she was about 14 but my now 13 year old wants nothing to do with them. I would ask her why and who she has seen wear them? I hate them myself I don't care if I have panty lines or not!

My daughter is only 7yrs but knows what she wants also very smart. Even she thinks that thongs are "yucky". "Those are for adults mommy not children" were her exact words to me the other day when she saw a pair in a childrens clothing store.

I'm 13 i think it's gross. Don't let her wear it untilshe is an adult and can make it on her own. I am like the dance mom but when i am doing a dance recital or competition i can not where any underwear at all but i did it anyway and got in trouble for 2 years for doing it.
