We give our pets (cat and dog) Program injections from the vet. They work from the inside and stop the fleas from breeding, and are much more effective than Frontline which we tried many times before.
I aso prefer Program because it doesnt involve the use of poison (like Frontline).

It is the most expensive flea treatment though, each injection costing about £25, and each animal needs 2 a year. I think its worth it.

Using a flea medication such as a flea bath shampoo is fine for the dog. Don't get it into the eyes, nose ears etc.
The big problem lies in the yard or house where the dog resides. Fleas lay thousands of eggs that need to be considered. Moisture will excite the eggs into hatching and then you have more fleas.
Go to your local vet or pet shop and get the proper products for complete elimination of fleas and their eggs.
Good Luck

The topical flea products work the best since they are dermally absorbed and work through the bloodstream. Get the dogs dipped, get a product such as Frontline or BioSpot on the dogs, and before you allow the dogs back in the house or your yard, treat both areas with products designed to kill fleas/flea eggs.

K9 Advantix it protects against fleas, ticks & mosqetos. And for all you people that keep saying that Frontline lasts for months it dose not. If you get on 1800petmeds and read about it, it's says "do not reapply for 30 days." No were on there can I find that it lasts for months. Also one other thing DO NOT EVER BUY FLEA MEDICIAN FROM WAL-MART. Because I heard that some of the flea medician bought from Wal-mart was the cause of some animal death. So I only buy my pets medicaion from my local vet that I trust.

Treat the dog with front line or strong hold, make sure you follow all the instructions on the can/pack. Also treat the house with Acclaim or smilar making sure you follow all the instructions. The house will not need doing for another 12 months. The dog will need doing every month if it is spot on and about every 3-4 months if it is sprayed, unless it gets wet/bathed for more than 4 times then the spray will need to repeated.

I have always used frontline on my animals. You can get it from your local vet, they may ask to see the animal first though. Its only in the summer that you need to use the treatment as during the winter months they die out and do not pester your animals. Try keeping you dog/cat away from fields as that is where they can pick them up from.

Definitely Frontline Spot On. It's so quick and easy and it really works (without side-effects either on dogs or cats). Oh and by the way, treat them for worms as well if they have fleas coz their life cycles are inter woven and if they have one they usually have the other as well.

You can get a special anti-flea shampoo.Give doggie a nice bath and then a good rinse with said shampoo (conditioner optional).

Works wonders. Did for my Max (English Springer Spaniel) at least.

I've used a light dusting of 5% Sevin on their coat and in their kennel. Use only once a month and a good flea collar.
