Have any of you friendly people engaged in this activity and if so, what do you think to it?

Is it difficult?

It's fantastic, you'll notice the difference in a couple of weeks. It's only as hard as you let it be. You should stop when you feel you have to and go into your relaxation pose, keep drinking plenty of water.

For maximum effect you should stretch as much as you are physically comfortable with, it will be painful but that just means its working, and no matter how wrecked you are during the session you won't believe how relaxed you are when you're done!!

I have been practising yoga now for about 3 years and would consider myself at intermediate level. When I first started I couldn't even touch my toes! I was very unsupple, had tight hamstrings and an aching back. I have eliminated all those problems and more by gentle practise.

As other people have mentioned there are different types of yoga, Hatha, Astanga to name a few and each have their own variations and focus on poses (anasana) it may be worth experimenting with a few DVD's to find out which type suits you before committing to a class. I can highly reccommend Geri yoga and Geri body yoga as excellent beginners dvd's (if u can put up with Geri Halliwell that is!)

Try reading over some of the information on this website it may give you a better insight. www.yogajournal.com

Good luck

It's a big endurance thing. It's difficult to fully extend the poses and stretch just right, especially at first, but I like it. Eventually you get a sense of accomplishment, it helps de-stress with all the breathing exercises, and it elongates your muscles, so they look so lean and great. Also, it's a very graceful activity to be in, and interesting to watch and do. I recommend it.

Depends what type of yoga it is. Some of the classes just involve stretching and chanting. Other types are much harder to do - suggest you find out the type of yoga class you are going to, as the one I first went to was boring and made me want to sleep.

I would just recommend you take it easy to start with, just because it is a gentle excercise doesnt mean you cant get injured. Concentrate on breathing properly before you start pushing more complicated moves. Once the breathing is right the rest will come. You will soon notice yourself becoming more relaxed, supple and strong.

i think its great gets ur body supple no matter how old you are, lik all exercise do what you can, dont push yourself into things you are worried about and dont let others in the class intimidate you if they are doing a move you cant do, you will get it may be not the first-third time but you will its just your body wnt be used to such things until you have done it a few times, and its all about the breathing too!

Taking up yoga is easy, continuing it is difficult. Reason: laziness, no time, etc.

Its a great activity. It's so relaxing, and after I've had a long day, it feels so good to release all that stuff. You'll love it!
