An 'affair' in whichever sense defined is only a preview of the future. One can have as many affairs as possible and mind you I am not referring to pre-marital or extra-marital. 'Affair's' need not be related to marriage, these can be related to anything which a person likes. To answer what you are looking for - having an affair or even affair's may not be necessary, however, 'committment' to what you want is ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY!!

No, its not necessary or morally correct to ever cheat on your spouse...in my belief.
