The first link is a link to finding cemetery records. If you know where she is buried, perhaps you can locate her first name in those records. In whatever community, you can look for past obituaries. But if you know the cemetery, you could always call and ask about searching their records, in case you cannot find anything online.

If you can get to a full name, you can use the Social Security Death Index, depending on when she died to get more information. See the second link.

This question, and the research that it will lead to, would be good for the public library in that community, or even your own (if you live elsewhere). Many public libraries have identified genealogy as an important service, and are prepared to help people. Often, libraries pay for subscriptions to online services like Ancestry.com and HeritageQuest, etc. Once you find her full name, you will be able to search Census records through such services to learn more about the family. The third link is the Public Library Locator.

Hope this helps.

I do genealogy as a hobby. It's going to be difficult at best with the information you've provided so I'll give you some hints. Start by family interviews. Ask cousins, aunts and uncles what they know. If your parents are still living I would ask them too.

As for web pages, one of the most useful and free web pages available for us is the Family Search given to us by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints:

http://www.familysearch.org/

They have millions upon millions of names and family information. This may be your best option.
