Ok, I'm Irish, and I'm a barrister, it's pretty much the same as an attourney I guess. Anyway, I have been told that I'm the tall dark and handsome type, and that I'm funny etc., and before when I was younger I dated a lot and had a lot of girlfriends, but now my career is taking up all my time! What do I do?!

enjoy being single for a while - you need to establish a good career for yourself first and obviously right now work is a priority! Just take the time out to relax when you get a weekend off or whatever just chill with it - dont be stressing about meeting girls etc etc. however should you feel the absolute urge to go on a date some night - I am available!!!!!!!

I think this could be quiet difficult as you are in such a demanding job. Firstly, you've identified that your job is taking over so you'll need to see where you can fit time in for a social life. Next, get out there and start meeting people. I can understand a time consuming job as I'm a teacher (ok, not on the same par but very time consuming I can promise you) and I just made the decision for me time to find someone as it is important to me to have someone to share my life with. So it all comes down to you and how you decide to approach it.

Hope it's been helpful, good luck!

Dont worry !! I know what you mean but..... would you prefer to have a girlfriend and not the career? what if the relationship ended and you hadnt gone for your career. Ive been single for 5 years while I have chased my career. I do sometimes wish for a partner but I have to look after number 1 first. The right person will come along when your not looking and from the sounds of it your quite a catch. x

Seriously, how about dating a girl barrister who's just as busy as you are? She'll understand why your work is important. I'm a legal secretary, and I know plenty of lawyers (and a few barristers) who all seem to manage. If you really don't have time to eat lunch or dinner in the company of a lovely lady lawyer, then maybe your firm needs to consider a radical overhaul of its work/life balance ethos.

You don't say how old you are, but you could begin with making friends first, chatting on line and then see what happens! I have been single for a long time and wonder if the one will come, but I haven't got much time myself with working full-time and studying to further my career. I am just going to stick with what I'm doing and let the rest take care of itself.

From your question i can see that you are already looking for some one... Don't worry, stick with your career at present but keep yours eyes open. Put one day a week without any career thing and enjoy your life. Don't concentrate on the looking for a date - it's a bit desperate, and i am sure you don't want that. Good Luck!

congratulations on a successful career try dating female barristers or better still get an assistant to do most of your donkey work.
Seriously
Lif'es too short
Or
Forget about dating until you've earned enough money not to have to work

I totally understand. To be successful in your career you have to devote 100% to it but also it;s important to maintain some sort of personal life. give yourself a break sometime and ask someone out or just go out with friends. If you don;t make time for a personal life you will burn out.

in my mind a career is more important that girls, and unless you've met that someone, keep with the work.
