You can buy silver cleaners in the store that are non-abrasive. I use the old Crest toothpaste. U have to use the paste, not gel or whitener kind - just old fashioned crest. It'll clean and smell minty fresh!

Tarnishing is a natural process, from the silver being exposed to air. There are products on the market to effectively clean silver, but a little soap and water can do the trick as long as you dry it very carefully afterwards.

Do not use anything that is acid. It will make pits in the silver.

Also important is that you wipe off the polish with a soft cloth.
Many people polish silver and then dry it with paper towels.
The paper towels tarnish the silver immediately.

When you buy silver from a jeweler, it is wrapped in a special paper which will not tarnish the silver.

Silver

Steps:
1. Clean the silver with a nonabrasive silver polish.

2. Apply the polish with a soft cloth, gently working it into stains.

3. Wipe away excess polish and buff the jewelry with a soft, lint-free cloth until it's shiny.

4. Keep in mind that frequently wearing silver jewelry can keep it from becoming tarnished.

There are jewelry cleaner wipes. You can get it at most jewelry stores, and also Walmart for 3.95! I have used them for years on my silver jewelry and they do a good job. They aren't messy and it is very simple.

the pharmacy normally sells a jewellery cleaning solution that you can use at home - it comes in a jar and you place the piece inside and then rinse with warm water... but a quick solution that i use sometimes is to cut a lime in half and rub it over the piece then rinse with warm water and dry! PRESTO!!!

Toothpaste!! sound crazy, right? try it...cheap, white baking soda toothpaste... you can even use a toothbrush to scrub it...then dry it with your hair dryer...the moisture causes the tarnishing...
