shouldn't they have better self control? Why do women need to cover themselves to avoid inflaming men's passion? In the West men are able to see (and even talk to) an uncovered woman without getting aroused. And we can treat them with repect, covered or not. What is the problem with Muslim men?

I think you have the wrong idea there. My Moslem students pray - but they don't stop work, carry mats around or leave the room to do so, they discreetly offer a quick prayer which can be a silent thought or hope that all will be well or that they will do better or accomplish more.
I agree with you about how women are treated, and I believe that if schools don't allow young girls to cover up, they will be less likely to feel they should do so.
What, Muslims might ask, though, is the problem with those hundreds of kids abducted & killed in western culture? What about elderly people attacked & killed in their homes, or left out of society because they don't look glamorous enough or rich enough? It's sure not about self-control or thinking good thoughts.

I'm guessing you are a male...women are not respected here just as they are not respected there, both for different reasons..they are overly protected, forcefully....we here have to deal with staring, unwanted touching, basically being treated as a sex object when we know we are so much more than that...Yes men hide it but for some of us it's easier to detect and it's disgusting.I did actually just find out that my friends husband was stalking me for 6 months with his buddy...just watched me while I worked and followed me home...then started again the next day, for six months!! This happens to women all the time. Go into your local wal-mart and ask the cashier how many times she's been proposed to by creepy old men, or drunk...how many of her male customers seem to follow her and always find a way to make contact! Before you start blowing your steam off on men in another country take a closer look here in your own, I'm guessing you didn't because you would rather ignore the BS women in your own "wonderful" country have to deal with on a daily basis.

I believe they are afraid that someone will act like their "proprhet". I asked if it's true that he married 9 years old girl, and muslims responded "yes" (they are very happy because of that). After a while I heard that Muhammed had more than a doesen women, and muslims said that it's just normal, that he's mission was (among everything else) to sleep with a lot of women etc.
The conclusion: just don't talk about moral and ethic with muslims, because they simply have several ethic criteria (one for Christians, one for their families and one for their "prophet" - sexual maniac).

Garments are for beatifying and for covering one’s body. The mode of dress should never display excess show and arrogance. Islam teaches a decent way of dressing to all women and men. The paramount purpose of clothing is to cover one’s nakedness. No man or a woman should dress in a way which rouses sexual desire in a stranger. Women ought to fully cover all the parts of their bodies except the face and hands. The aim of prescribing such a dress code for woman is to protect her honour and to ensure her safety.

Apparently, Mormon and Orthodox Jewish women also cannot show themselves or their hair in public. So there you have it--the big 3 monotheistic religions (Christianity, Judaism, and Islam). Here's the bottom line with these faiths:
They hate, loathe, despise, and FEAR women. That simple.
...and people wonder why there are sooo many women turning to the old Pagan religions of the Goddess....

Coz many men are weak. wether you pray or not.Thats why they are commanded to lower their gaze. Furthermore, it is more so a protection against those few who don't control themselves.
Many extra marital affairs are with someone from work. This constant interaction with people of opposite sex slowly results in being more then just friends.

The problem is a false belief system based on hypocrisy:
Muslims (and Islam) SAY Jesus was a prophet but they reject all His teachings ...
They reject Christ's divinity;
they reject his claim to be the Son of God;
they reject his death on the cross;
they reject His ressurrection..
They reject Jesus is the Christ/ Messiah...
Need I say more...?
Don't be deceived. The Islamic god is totally different than the God of Jesus Christ .
