It's exolved from XP but it's far from complete according to the latest beta testing.

Don't expect it anytime soon!

As of September 2006, Windows Vista is at release candidate stage; Microsoft has stated the scheduled release dates for Windows Vista are currently November 2006 for business editions, and January 2007 for consumer editions.

Rumour has it the official release date has already been decided for Windows Vista - and you can expect it to be ready in time to make an appearance late next year.

According to a report by Windows IT Pro, the official date for a full Vista release will be 7 December 2006, with the second beta of the product being released to testers late this year.

This is the latest that I have heard.

Microsoft Windows Vista is expected to be ready on 30 January. Joe Wilcox discovered a page with Amazon's Windows Vista pre-order prices.

Here's the price list, as charged by Amazon (full/upgrade):

* Windows Vista Home Basic, $199/$99.95
* Windows Vista Home Premium, $239/$159
* Windows Vista Business, $299/$199
* Windows Vista Ultimate, $399/$259

It is planned to be released to large companies and organizations by November this year. The commercial version available to the public is planned to be launched in January, though the exact day has not been confirmed yet.

It is built around Microsoft Windows as other Windows versions and the new features can be found at Microsoft's official website here. http://www.microsoft.com/windowsvista/default.aspx

More than one version is being developed for the January launch, all with different pricing, but the details have not been announced yet. The standard Vista set will cost about US$199.

Hope this helps :)

When hell freezes over, if you're lucky.

Why the impatience anyway? You KNOW nothing is really going to be different.
