Have served 8 years in military, I am a dual military parent who has to come home from an overseas assignment because im wife is about to PCS to korea. I have to take care of our daughter because no one can take care of her. If I do not get a compassionate reassignment then i might get chaptered under family harship. I want to know if i retain any military entitlements, what kind of discharge i might receive, and if i receive any monetary compensation as well.

none, save your GI Bill if signed up for it.. BUT since your wife is also AD, you would then be covered under all spouse's bennies.. TRICARE.,MWR acess, Commissary and Exchange priviledges.

It's doubtful that you will be offered severance pay, as the discharge would NOT be "for the good of the service"

Actually rather sruprised spousal co location didin't work here, or the fact that you are each in an Unacompanied billet. seems like you were screwed somehwere along the line.

I think so ask a vetrans councilor at the VA and for find out what your re code is on the bottom of your DD214. You want the number to be low Re-1 or Re-2. you get Re-4 and your F-cked.
You may better served staying in the reserves if you are in a MOS thats dosen't mobilize. Like military historian. Air Force reserves or ART Air reserve technician full time reservists.

MrsJVB is right... and as for the discharge... should be administrative and the character is your CO's discretion... probably general under honorable... and since you have more than 6 yrs active, you can request an admin board and fight the separation... Go see base legal...

PS the service can choose to separate your wife instead of you... IT IS THEIR CHOICE!
