I work a full time job (8am-5pm) and am a night student at a local college full time every evening (6pm-10pm). My commute home is usually about 1 1/2 hours, so I am usually home by 11:30pm. By the time I get home I am STARVING but I don't want to eat a huge meal. What kind of foods can I carry with me that are filling, healthy, and portable so that I don't feel like eating everything in sight by the time I get home?

They are like a unlimited number of options. Its only if you have the time to get them nito your bag between work and night school. Personally i would suggest you bring some fruits along with you to work and class. Other stuff would be maybe a sandwish with tuna or cheese(low fat). Bring along some nuts might help. I find raisin or prunes a good way to get over the carving for sweetness. The are natures natural sweet and quick energy boast.

I wold also recommned you buy those quick meal replacement powders. They have all the right quantities of carbs, protien and fats and great in taste as well.

I hope that helps
Cheers

#1 Rule: STOP eating after 8-9pm.

#2 - Fill up on healthy foods before 8pm. Make yourself nice a full. If you get hungry after 9pm, drink something low cal, like decaf tea or coffee.

#3 - Take with you: cut up apples, pears, oranges (your favorite fruit) in zip lock baggies, low fat granola bars, nutrigrain bars, bananas, rice krispie treats are low fat, turkey breast sandwich with lots of veggies in one of those cheap zip lock containers, cut up celery, carrots, peppers, (your favorite raw veggies) with a side container of your favorite low fat dressing, Any kind of SOUP- broth based (no creamy soups). Saltine crackers with jelly and/or peanut butter, cottage cheese with pineapple...

Funny thing is, I need to start following my own advice and save some money. Eating out for lunch is expensive!

Well, I hope some of that helps, good luck my friend!

Eat plain crakers, or plain bread, or plain rice... get my drift? Anything plain will, to my theory, are healthy and not fattening.
