okay, for this to work one of the twins is born at 11:59 pm and the other one is born at 12:01 of the next day. this puts them one day apart. the other factor is that they were born while crossing the international date line (going in the forward direction), so actually the 2nd one was born two days later. very tricky, good Q!

There are many good answers, no definitive one. Lilo's is a play on words. Let's suppose for clarity that Aaron and Adam are each other's twin. If Aaron was born a few minutes before midnight on February 28 of a non-leap year, while Adam was born a few minutes after midnight, i.e. on March 1st, their birthdays would actually be two days apart on leap years.
Careful: the leap year thing is vital; on the other hand, there's no need to use the international date line, since in no way would it allow you to skip more than one full day (think about it for a while).

Adam is not the twin of Aaron, he's the brother of Aaron and a twin of a third brother.
