I've been with my boyfriend for 3 months and although he used to be so thoughtful & send cute texts and emails, that seems to have stopped. Also we seem to always be doing things he wants to do, watching football, going to his parents. How can I encourage him to think about what I would like, or even send me flowers?

Surely I shouldn't have to ask him to do this?

By going back to the beginning.. when all was sweet..when he was trying to win your heart. Do more things on your own or with friends.. Love is about freedom not possession. Go back to the times when you were single, and enjoy those things,, he'll soon realise that you are just as intriguing now as you were in the beginning

In a "ideal" world, of course you shouldn't have to ask him, but the minute the sms stopped and the cute emails disappeared, your world became less and less "ideal".
If you don't talk to him now, while it's only been 3 months, he will never realize he is doing something wrong and he will continue with this behavior for ever, until you are fed up and break up with him, or until you get used to it and decide to stay in the relationship in spite of it.

Wow, at only 3 months this has happened? That's not a good sign. You just have to tell him how you feel. Most of us are thoughtless when it comes to that and we're not mind readers.
He probably doesn't know it bothers you if you go along with everything.
If he can't respect how you feel then you should find someone who will. I bet that would get his attention.

P.S. There's nothing wrong with football ;)

Sounds like he is losing interest. Three months into a relationship is supposed to still be the cute and thoughtful stage. Find a new guy.

you have unrealistic expectations, the road to an ending relationship .... make other plans to do what you want to do, he can come along with you or not as he chooses .... when he realizes that you aren't going to be at his beck and call, he will get more attentive. its always a mistake to live your life for someone else totally at the expense of your own interests and self

For any relationship to be long term, both partners have to be:
1. Sincere and honest with each other
2. Respect each other's views and values
3. Do things to please each other and not one-sided
4. Consult each other on decisions that will affect each other directly or indirectly.
5. Communicate with each other regularly
So, you have to communicate with him and let him know how you feel

Men,
