Millipede is what I have always called them and so has everybody else.

Tina, you are confusing centipedes and millipedes.
They are two totally different critters.

the translation is "centipede" and this is more accurate than the German word because this animal has only about 100 legs and not thousand.

mille in Latin, FUSZ means foot or pede in Latin

technically yes, since tausend means 1,000 (like milli), however I have also seen it translated as "centipede"
