Ya know basil works to rid ants as well....Just save it for Italian dishes you make in the future by freezing it..or make some small jars full of it,put on a decorative label & give it for small gifts at Christmas..

I use basil for many things
Pomadora Sauce
Bruschetta
I love to slice it up and put it on homemade pizza
I make a pepperoni pasta primavera with veggies, but instead of a cream sauce I use olive oil, garlic, basil and oregano. My 5 year old loves it!

chop it up and freeze it with water in ice cube trays. Is wonderful if you are cooking pasta sauce and you can just throw in a cube or two. Caprese Salad (tomato, basil and mozzarella) is also good.

Make a syrup from it . Add balsamico to it for a salad dressing . Or infuse it with sugar syrup to make granite . Deep fried it for garnishing .Or infuse it in the olive oil .

You can FREEZE it. It's not exactly the same as fresh, but not bad. At least you don't waste it. I freeze parsley and coriander.
