...I would like to know how do muslims feel when they see a picture of man, or something like that. And, what about cartoons? Are they forbidden for children?
Muslims only (and please without long quotations from Kuran).

It is true that it is strongly forbidden in Islam to make portraits of humans and animals.
Here is one of the hadith that mentions this (this is not from the Quran)
`Â’ishah relates that the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: “The people who will be most severely punished on the Day of Resurrection will be those who aspire to create like Allah.” [Sahîh al-Bukhârî (5954) and Sahîh Muslim (2107)]
also
Abû Talhah relates that the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: “The angels do not enter a house wherein there is a dog or images representing (people or animals).” [Sahîh al-Bukhârî (3225) and Sahîh Muslim (2106)]
I would not personally draw portraits but if I see portraits it does not upset me.
Some scholars make exceptions for children and say that although they must try to avoid drawing portraits they may watch cartoons.

See this RETARDED MORON above me!!! These are the INBREEDS that have never left their TRAILER DUMPS but take liberty in stereotyping others. Anyway these vermins are meaningless in society!!
Muslims are allowed to have family photos in an album but prohibited from framing them and hanging them on walls. I have seen some cartoon booklets for early childhood learning for Muslim children. However, ther is never any drawings or paintings of God or any of the Prophets.
The reason being that no man has the right to use any inanimate object to represent God or any of the Prophets. If you ever have a chance to see the film 'The messenger' you would see that the Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) was never shown, no one portrayed him you only heard a voice.
In the Mosque, there are no statues either because you are supposed to pray to the Spiritual God not an inanimate object.
This is in strict compliance with Islamic teachings that God or his Messengers has no peers and as such nothing should be used to represent them.
I hope this shed some light and you overlook the uneducated MORONS like the one above me. The same way he feels about Muslims, he should take a look at the chaos in the Catholic churches where PRIESTS are raping altar boys!

It was a pretty smart idea really -- there was a concern that if images were allowed that people would end up turning Muhammad into what Christians turned Jesus into -- the god who should be worshiped. Mu hammed was the messenger only. His behavior is consider impeccable and should be copied, but he should not be worshiped. Early Muslims thought if there was no image, people wouldn't try to pray to him. Seems to have worked...
Not sure why it got extended to pictures in general tho. Probably just because fundamentalists like to find things that are easy to enforce and punish people for.

Muslims are forbidden from drawing human portraits, and even photographing humans.
We are not allowed to display images of humans or animals in our homes.
Cartoons are also drawings of faces, bodies, etc and as such should not be done by Muslims.

As a photographer you pose American born people with mother in the center and every one else around her. A small female child would be put on mothers lap. People from the middle east are posed with the man in center and male children around him, Mother and female children are put in back.

Liberals do not allow depictions of Muhammed. They say freedom of seech only applies to making parodies of Jesus... Muhammed is not allowed. In fact, I hear they want to make it a law!
