I'm sorry to hear that Mr wolf, i sincerely hope i also didn't put you off. I cant imagine your going to get a really good car for that price. If your still after the 205 gti buzz i would go for the 106 xsi they are about the same money. circa "92" on. for reliability and performance,a Honda civic esi v-tech is worth a look. Keep away from turbo cars for that money, they will cost you 3 times that to repair. also if you view a vaux or ford watch for rust this will certainly cost a lot at mot time. Good luck with your search for your ideal car. : )

I had a 205 GTi as my second car and it never had any problems. It was much better than my 306 and I regret selling it.
Golf's are supposed to be very reliable. And my boyfriend's Honda Prelude was fast and reliable but the insurance can be costly.
I just bought a Renault Megane Coupe which is good fun, it was just over £4000 but you might be able to pick up an older on for cheaper.
If you're buying an older car, get it checked out by a professional, they should be able to give you some advice on what might cost you in the future.

If you're really lucky you might find a half decent motor for under a grand.. my advice would be to scrimp those savings up another £500 and a much improved world of used cars will be available to you: VW's,Audis, Saabs etc.. go on you know it makes senses - put the extra £500 on a 0% credit card and start looking at cars for £1750 with a view to offering 1500 'ish

When I was after another car I went on the internet and did a bit of research into used cars. Can't remember the site but the best used cars you can buy are: Volvo S60, BMW and Audi.
I went for an Audi W reg and it is the best car I have ever owned!
The site might have been part of Top Gear. Try that, it tells you everything you need to know!

A lot of things can go wrong, with a lot of used cars.
It is hard to buy a used car,it seems you are buying someone else`s problems.I was afraid to get mine,BUT has been the best car I ever owned. Its a 93 Mits. eclipse. I still love it.A few people have asked when I am getting a new one,I ask why as long as it runs..I will stick with it.Why do I want car payments if I don't absolutely need them? Good Luck..(did get the type I liked..sporty)
