they do not watch any thing, we do not have a TV. If I caught my boy doing that I would beat his but, and make him tell me where he got that stuff. And don't you dare try telling me how to raise my children. They do what they are told, when they are told, they do not mumble under their breath, case us dirty looks, sass or talk back, in fact they are spoiled to death. My oldest is 32 and we have no problems out of any of them, other then the 'I can't wait to get out on my own' stuff ' which is good, because it shows that they want to be independent. Yes I watch them like a hack, and I immediately correct any wrong behavior.

My sons have little interest in choosing their own music at this age. They enjoy the 50's music their grandma plays, and they enjoy the music their dad and I play (Linkin Park, Gone Jackals, anime themes, game music, Veggietales, KJ-52, Eternal Decision, Pillar, Fire By Nite, MegaDeth, among others).
We have instilled a "no-secrets" policy here. All things are to be done or spoken about openly. That goes from them to us, and from us to them. They also understand that some things (that is, sex and reproduction) are not to be spoken of until they reach the right age. It is not a secret, but rather, an answer that is a "yes, I will tell you, but once you are ready to hear".
Now, I wouldn't care if they listen to Madonna. However, they know not to act upon what they hear. They know it's okay to "play with the Lego parts", but not okay to act on the fact that the big Bionicles (as far as the storyline goes) are worshipped by the little ones as gods. They know it's okay to "blast the aliens in Halo 2 to smithereens", but that it's not okay to hurt anyone in real life. They also know when they have crossed the line for themselves... when they start acting out such things, they realize it, and rid themselves of what's caused the problem.
And so far, they have acted far better than other kids their age I have come across.
When the time comes, they'll know that it's okay to "listen to music about sex", but that it's not okay to look at porn or to have pre-marital sex. And I can only hope that if there is a problem, they will rid themselves of things that would cause them to lust.

It would make me very sad to see children exposed to MaDonna's indiscretions. Even she has some regrets about that now that she is a Mom. As Papa Don't Preach says "I"m in trouble deep". Point them to more "traditional" Christian bands. I think some of the bands sell out when they start crossing over into the pop genre because it waters down the message although it is great exposure to Christ if you can get it in the pop culture.

My daughter is only 4, so she listens to basically the same music I do. She's my little captive audience for XM The Heart and XM The Blend and sometimes XM Flight 26. We also sometimes spin The White Stripes and Macy Gray and Van Halen (Hagar only) and Joss Stone and Sade and Christian band Delirious.
She likes the Cheetah Girls and Keith Urban, too.
Recent Madonna is out of the question, though I dig when they play "Crazy For You" on The Heart.
