Understanding Engineers - Take One
Two engineering students were walking across a university campus when one said,
"Where did you get such a great bike?"
The second engineer replied, "Well, I was walking along yesterday,
minding my own business, when a beautiful woman rode up on this bike,
threw it to the ground, took off all her clothes and said, "Take what
you want."
The second engineer nodded approvingly and said, "Good choice; the
clothes probably wouldn't have fitted you anyway."
Understanding Engineers - Take Two
To the optimist, the glass is half full.
To the pessimist, the glass is half empty.
To the engineer, the glass is twice as big as it needs to be.
Understanding Engineers - Take Three
A priest, a doctor, and an engineer were waiting one morning for a
particularly slow group of golfers.
The engineer fumed, "What's with those blokes? We must have been waiting
for fifteen minutes!"
The doctor chimed in, "I don't know, but I've never seen such inept golf!"
The priest said, "Here comes the greens keeper. Let's have a word with him."
He said, "Hello, George! what's wrong with that group ahead of us?
They're rather slow, aren't they?"
The greens keeper replied, "Oh, yes. That's a group of blind fire
fighters. They lost their sight saving our clubhouse from a fire last year, so we always let them play for free anytime."
The group fell silent for a moment.
The priest said, "That's so sad. I think I will say a special prayer for
them tonight."
The doctor said, "Good idea. I'm going to contact my ophthalmologist
colleague and see if there's anything he can do for them."
The engineer said, "Why can't they play at night?"

telling yourself you can do it will do nothing but build up your ego. to become strong both in body and in mind takes a lot of hard work and a lifestyle many couldn't do if they wanted to.
The people in Japan work in what is called Kazan which is continuous improvement. They start with the basics and learn to make changes. the chanting I can do it is solving simple goals working on self improvement on one final goal that never will be met. The reason they feel it never will be met is because they believe there is always ways to improve.

Talking yourself up and getting yourself in the right mindset definitely helps. It's certainly better than not saying anything or no encouragement.
A lot of people tend to be pessimistic and have negative thoughts, which goes in the other direction.

For me I became strong when I just couldnt be bothered and had had enough of the bullsh*t I was dealing with. You have to hit a point in your life when you say NO MORE! For some folk, you have to hit rock bottom.

You become strong by doing and not too much thinking. Always remember not to think too much.
Become involved in whatever you like to do and you will make progress. It is not necessary to dwell on "I can do it" while you are doing it.

Confidence is a huge factor in accomplishign anything/ If you a nagative attitude towards things, negative things are bound to happen.
If you don't feel you can do something then you probably won't do it. I believe you can do anything if you put your mind to it.
