Okay, this is for the last 2 pts! So I'll be TOTALLY honest! 5 Years ago I shaved my head completely! The kids had head lice and kindly gave them to their curly headed mum. Impossible to get out of my overdyed (at the time) hair without ripping my scalp off! So I just shaved it. Since then I've just let it grow and only trimmed a bit off the ends in the winter when chlorine from the pool I go to gets at it. I don't dye it anymore either. Now its about halfway down my back and pretty wild, looks great. Easy to maintain, too, unless I don't wash it for a couple of days-then I look like Bob Marley's white sister.
Oh, and being scared? Hmm, not really. I was hugely overweight at the time too...that year was very drastic for me in many ways. Got rid of the hair, dropped 30 lbs and then gradually lost 70 more lbs...somehow I think shaving my head helped. Being a 300 lb bald woman changes what you fear.LOL

I made a significant change towards the end of July.
I usually have short hair with long bangs parted on each side and leave my hair wavy and however it sticks up. After growing my hair out for awhile, I went to a salon and told her I wanted to keep the length, and she played around with my hair. She cut some layers into it, cut my bangs, straightened my hair entirely and pushed my bangs off to one side. I got blonde highlights as well. I was very frightened as all this was going on because I've never really done ANYTHING to my hair whatsoever. I just wanted something that would look good on me, and I worried nothing would.
I have never, ever, EVER been more in love with my hair. The first day I was pretty shy and uncomfortable, afraid it looked awful, but after all the looks I got and the compliments, I knew I made the right decision. I've never been a very confident person, but my self-esteem has now boosted tremendously.
If you're thinking about getting something different, I would try it--you never know what will look really good and make you feel good, too, unless you give it a try.

About 3 years ago after my sister's wedding I chopped off my long hair. Standing out in the sun for 3 hours was not fun and it was the dead of summer and I didn't want all that hair bothering me.
I think the new hairstyle looked ok, but I missed my long hair in the winter.

I made a drastic change a couple of years ago. My hair is long and straight. I cut it short into a "messy" hairstyle. It was really cute but too much trouble to fix. I like just blow drying and going. I don't want to have to hot iron etc.

About 5 months ago I made a big change. I went from long straight hair to a short copper(color) afro. I was a little nervous about how people would look at me, but then I said to myself who cares what they think they look worse and need to make some changes themselves.

When I split up with my 1st Husband I had my waist length hair cut short, really short, like Sharon Stone when she had short hair. I was not scared coz I hoped it would look cute, and it suited me, I was very pleased with it. Since I split up with my 2nd husband I decided to grow it, so for 2 years I have been growing it from very short to long, it is now just hovering above my shoulders and I may continue growing it. I miss the ease of short hair though.

My most significant (and ultimately dramatic) hairstyle change was when I was in grade 1. I had hair down to the back of my ankles at that age, went to my aunt's house for Christmas break and came back with hair cut up to my ear's. No one believed I was me, even when I proved it with my name tag. I was hurt that no one recognized me....lol.

I change my hairstyle twice a year! I like variety and I just get bored quickly with my hair!
