I get ID'ed pretty much everytime i go into my local Wetherspoon's, i'm 24 now, but the annoying thing is that i haven't had any ID for the past 4 years, now i'm getting fed up with being turned away from there and yet a minute down the road where the same doormen work the very next night, they let me in and want to have a laugh while queueing to get in!?!

Whoever came up with the phrase ''Baby faced'' ??? The B****RDS!!! lol

I got carded on my 30th and my 40th birthdays. I guess I don't get out much, or I'd be carded more often. State laws differ, but here there is a lot of responsibility for retailers to not only determine that someone is "of age" to purchase, but to evaluate whether an ID is a valid ID. For instance, if someone who is underage produces an ID that says they are older, the retailer may still be subject to fines or lawsuits because they allegedly should have been able to tell that the ID was falsified. They are also supposed to evaluate the current level of inebriation and not sell alcoholic beverages to anyone they think is already drunk. And the really Orwellian part of this is that after a party of law enforcement officers in a bar near here, a police captain and retired police lieutenant died when the motorcycle they were riding plowed into a bridge abutment at about 95 mph with blood alcohol at more than twice the legal limit. According to the testimony, none of the police officers present could tell that the victims were intoxicated. So they sued the bar owner, because he was supposed to be able to tell when a whole building full of police officers couldn't. So show your ID, and smile. They are only doing a very difficult job.

Well I'm not sure where you are, because in the U.S. you need to be 18 to buy ciggarettes, so you would definitely still get carded at 19, since that's such a small difference. But, I know exactly what you mean, because the other day I was in a shop and asked if I could have a credit card application, so I could get a discount. The guy asked if I was old enough for a credit card. And I was like, wow how old do I look? And he said about 17. . . .I'm 26!!! So yes, I still always get carded if I am somewhere I don't usually go. But, usually most places I know the same people from seeing them so often they don't bother.

Yep. I'm 27 and I'm always getting asked for ID, even when I'm buying a bottle of wine in a supermarket. I was in Waitrose the other week and the cashier saw me put a couple of bottles onto the checkout and buzzed the supervisor. I was forced to scramble through my bag and pull out my driving licence in front of a whole queue of people to prove I wasn't 17 or under! I was even rejected from doing the lottery about two years ago and my mum, who was waiting in the car, had to come into the shop and tell the guy behind the counter that I wasn't 15.

I've always had this kind of thing happening to me though, yet my sister, who's 3 years younger than me was buying the booze with no problem when she was about 14! I was quite annoyed at first but hey, I guess one day I'm going to appreciate looking younger than I really am!

The most embaressing time was a few years back when I was 23/24. I went into my local shop which I used to go in almost every evening after work for groceries. On this occasion, I tried to buy a 4pack of beer, like I did every Friday (it's the weekend!!!), I got to the till and the assistant politely asked me if I had any ID. I just looked at him blankly and he asked me again. The only ID I had was my buspass which I told him. I had to go home, get my driving license and go back to the shop to buy my beer. I couldn't believe it!! I wouldn't mind except it was my local shop. I did feel flattered I suppose when I got over the shock!
I get asked for ID in clubs and bars still, and the other week I got asked in Marks and Sparks by a teenage boy! I think they just have to ask everyone because the M&S boy told me that if he sells to underage people, it won't be M&S in trouble but he would be the one to receive the fine. I'm alright with it, I guess most people are just doing their jobs and it's better to be safe than sorry.

Yep, I'm 29 now and I still get looked at very carefully sometimes. The last time I was actually asked for ID was about a year ago I think. I get told I look a lot younger than I am by loads of friends and colleagues. I've got used to it now so it doesn't really bother me. It's more amusing seeing the look on the face of the cashier when they see my DOB. Can't blame them though, they're only doing their job.

I'm 22 and get asked for ID for everything! I was even asked when i went to fill my car up at the garage! Thought it was stupid as i wouldn't be driving if i wasn't old enough to buy petrol! I have even been asked when renting films. I know that i look younger than my age but i agree with you that i didn't get asked this much when i actually was underage. I tend to find now that shops remember my face now and know my age. It could be due to my pissed off attitude at always being asked or it could be due to the hideous picture on my driving license!!

I get it, so does my husband whos nearly 30!! (seriously, just because he doesn't have a beer belly and is clean shaven i think!)
Last time was in asda, i wanted to get 4 stella for someone and they wouldn't serve me until i pulled out my credit card, asda card, switch etc! Even then, the girl (who was years younger than me) had to get her supervisor.
I've pulled up outside an off license, when i was 23, I had my young kids in the car and the guy watched me get out, and refused to sell me fags, i couldn't believe it! Though before I was 18, I never got asked for id for fags, booze or going clubbing......
God knows what its going to be like when they change the law - its soon changing to be you can only buy fags if your over the age of 18.
Noooooo!!

Oh if only. I'm 72 and nobody asks for my ID. But why the hell do you want cigarettes at 19 they are expensive and smoking is dangerous. Not because you are going to die 5 to 10 years sooner than you should but because you are likely to spend the last 10 to 15 years or your life in very poor health
