My shih tzu loves fruit & veggies. He'll eat fresh apple or peach before anything else. Since your pooch is so young, limit the amount of apple she gets since she really needs the protein & minerals she gets from her puppy food to help her bones & body grow. Apples aren't very high in nutrient content so you might use apple bits as a treat for trainning or just as a little reward for your pup bein' a good girl.

I wouldn't give the puppy apples at such a young age ( she's just weaned ). About another month you can use apples and some other fruits and/or some veggies like carrots as a reward or treat. I have raised chows and miniature pincher for years. Just don't want to feed things like that all the time cause it will cause health problems but once in awhile is ok.

Dogs can have apples, but definitely no seeds as the seeds contain small amounts of cyanide and are poisonous.

I can't imagine why you would want to give your puppy apples to eat as apples will likely cause diarrhea. If it were my puppy, I would not feed her anything, but a premium dog food. Did the breeder give you any information on the proper care and feeding of puppies?

maybe not quite yet. she's still pretty young and her tummy can't handle different types of food yet. I'd keep her on a moist puppy chow until she's about 4 months old. and then you could probably give her some apple. my dogs love them.

Sure you can give your dog bites of apple - just not too much or she'll get the runs and don't give her seeds.

Dogs should not be given people food, no matter what it is. And some human foods will kill a dog if eaten. Stick with dog food and keep human food away from her.

I think a small piece only. Pectin is in apples I think and too much is bad for dogs.

My dog loves them, especially Granny Smiths. I've heard that the seeds have small amounts of cyanide in them, so they shouldn't have the cores, but my father insists that he's eaten the cores all of his life, and he's OK.
